But ask " Who Am I " and attend carefully to what happens next. Or " Who is sitting at the computer " .....letting body/mind really RELAX - and watch. Or give a good shout of PHAT like the text suggests. Theres the bright empty awareness isnt there? then immediately a thought or perception of something or other will pop in - perhaps a feeling - and at that moment you RECOGNIZE that arising, no matter and not separate to it, what it is to actually be of the same nature as your bright empty awareness. And you practice this. One of the points of the text says that you do have to decide and have confidence. But hey presto - freed from the habit of duality, splitting up subjects and objects, events and someone they are happening to or is doing them. After awhile mind spends most of its time relaxed and not obsessing over anything, spacious as the sky and it becomes easier to watch arisings as a display of awarenss. No struggle over anything at all because there is NOTHING which is not just a glorious display of awareness of our essential being. In the basic ground of our every day awareness - thoughts arise and dissolve, thinking mind arises, or happy mind arises, or angry mind arises, or mind creating subject and object arises. With each arising there is " birth " and with each dissolution there is " death " and a return into presence of awareness that knows no birth or death. But the important point is the RECOGNITION that these arising are a display of awareness. Even when the habit of separate self arises this too - a display - hearing, seeing, thinking, feeling all a display of the Great Perfection. EMAHO! The Tibetans say that its just a matter of getting used to it. A good friend tells me - " all ya gotta do is maintain the view. " J > Dear Joyce, This such wonderful and beautiful description. Guest guest
Dear Joyce, I hope you and Victor keep the miracles coming. Usually, if somebody sends something to this list, it's understood that I might reprint it as a letter on our website here: http://www.realization.org/page/top/letters.htm Is it ok if I do that with your letters that Victor forwards? Guest guest
Hi Laura, If you enjoy anything I send then this is great. I realize as I write that Im writing to myself, reminding myself of what is important as I aspire to live the meaningful life. But " sangha " , sharing ones investigations with others of like mind is very important. You can share anything I send with the acknowledgement that what I find helpful comes from others and I try to acknowledge what masters Im quoting from and who have inspired me. What is " original " from my end is that I am one of the ones who takes forever to " GET IT " - so perhaps others might find that encouraging. But, Ive left no stone unturned in order to discover the obvious. Ive started to realize that everything all of us send in our writing is a celebration of what we all truly realize and that far from seeking to find what we do not have we are really manifesting a full expression of who we really are, each in their own marvelous uniqueness. Guest guest
Dear Joyce, For some reason, whether it's original or not, your writing has a very powerful effect on me. Earlier today, when Victor sent me the first Trekcho message, while reading it, I felt as close to waking up as I've ever been. I felt like the obstructions were just a thin rod bending past the breaking point...they almost snapped. It wasn't that you were telling me anything I hadn't heard before, but, something about the way you said it... it was very powerful. I had a premonition of myself giving up and just accepting what I already " know " , that it's only awareness... it was close. So...maybe your writing will have similar effects on other people. I think so. I hope so.
