Guest guest
In " Thus Spake Ramana " Sri Ramana Maharshi says: 2. " Reality is at once Being and Consciousness. To know That is to be That in the Heart, transcending thought. Absolute surrender to the Supreme Lord, whereby the 'I' and 'mine' are destroyed, is the one means to realize immortality. The Supreme Being, the one ultimate Cause of the Universe, manifests Himself as many which do not exist apart from Him. To destroy the ego and BE as the Self, is the Supreme method of attainment. " Is it possible to point to this Reality using the every day mind? How is Absolute surrender to the Supreme Lord accomplished? How does one destroy the ego? What is Being? What is Consciousness? Who am 'I'? How does one simply BE or not BE? Are you and I merely undifferentiated blips within Reality? How do we differ or not differ? Are there any benefits to pursuing or not pursuing this path? Guest guest
Dear Victor, Who are you asking? :-) There is only one person who can supply answers to these questions. Only one. Guest guest
Dear Tim, This is true in the end result but in the interim I feel that these are useful questions on the path. I am attempting to get a discussion going. Love, Victor Tim Gerchmez <core >>Dear Victor, Who are you asking? :-) There is only one person who can supply answers to these questions. Only one. Guest guest
Dear Victor, If you don't mind my saying so (this is just the way I see things), it's true at all points. Any answers to the questions you asked are valid only for the person who asked them, because " the path " is different for everyone. Nobody can answer questions such as these but yourself. You may or may not agree, but that's my stance on the issue. These things need to be inquired into personally, and the " stock answers " (such as those supplied in the scriptures) are simply a pack of lies until you discover and verify things through direct personal experience. I'm not trying to stop you from getting a discussion going though, discuss to your heart's content :-). Please forgive me though if I don't participate -- I need to go do some personal inquiry, and find the answers to these questions! :-) With Love, Tim At 08:24 AM 2/3/2000 -0500, you wrote: >Victor Torrico <vtorrico > >Dear Tim, > >This is true in the end result but in the interim I feel >that these are useful questions on the path. Guest guest
Dear Tim, Is it not possible that hard heads such as me may need to keep beating their heads with dual questions 'til they reach the point where they finally give up and get into a more useful situation? Guest guest
Dear Victor, I don't think " Who Am I " has an answer in the ordinary sense. It's more like an instruction for meditation, or like a koan. > How does one simply BE or not BE? Give up fantasizing, which means giving up the compulsive habit of acting to satisfy desire. Love, Laura, in guru mode P.S. don't take me too seriously, I just like to pontificate sometimes. - Victor Torrico <vtorrico <Realization > Thursday, February 03, 2000 7:24 AM Questions > Victor Torrico <vtorrico > > In " Thus Spake Ramana " Sri Ramana Maharshi says: > > 2.
