Dear Fellow Bhagavatas,

The more we study Srimad Bhagavatam, the more we would realize that we have been wasting our life till now in getting attached to and absobed in trivial and transient things rather than to the one and only Reality that exists. Significance and importance of Several Upanishadic and scriptural declarations like--

1.Sarvam Khalu idam Brahma (All that you see here is Brahman only)

2.Isavasyam idam sarvam.......(The whole universe is enveloped by Isvara-- Opening Mantra of Isavasya Upanishad)

3.Ekam sat Vipraah bahuda vadanti (Truth is one but realised people speak of it differently)

4.Aham Brahmasmi (I am Brahman)

5.Tatwamasi ( That thou art from Chandogya Upanishad VI.12.3)

6.Purusha Evadagum sarvam (All this is Purusha only)

7.Sarvam hyetat Brahma, ayamAtma Brahma, soyam Atma chatuspat (All this manifested universe is Brahman, this Self is Brahman, this Self manifests Itself in all the various states(waking, dream, deep sleep and the Turiya or the transcendental(Mandukya Upanishad Mantra 2)

8.Vasudevassarvamiti............(Vasudeva is all Gita 7.19)

9.Mayaa tatam idam sarvam( I pervade all that is here Gita9.4)

10.Sarvam Brahmamayam jagat (Everything in this universe is Brahman only)

etc. etc. are all explained through various episodes in Srimad Bhagavatam. Let us now enjoy a few selected verses of Srimad Bhagavatam which highlight the power of the name of the Lord.

Verse 11 of chapter 1of Skandam 2 of Srimad Bhagavatam affirms that constant chanting of the ho;y name of the Lord is the doubtless and fearless way of success for all, including those who are free from all material desires, those who are desirous of all material enjoyment, and all those who are self-satisfied by dint of transcendental knowledge. Wherever we may stand as per the categorisations stated above, we will stand to be benefited by constantly chanting the holy name of the Lord. Incidentally, the Vishnu Purana states that merely by chanting one holy name of Hari, a sinful amn can counteract the reactions to more sins than he is able to commit and the Skanda Puranam assures that by once chanting the name of the Lord, which consists of the two syllables ha-ri one is guaranteed the path to liberation. The Garuda Puranam, for its part asserts that if

one chants the holy name of the Lord, even in a helpless condition or without desiring to do so, all the reactions of his sinful life depart, just as when a lion roars, all the small animals flee in fear.
