To all devotees of Srimatha:

Namaskaram,

One of the periodic email that gets to all of us about is the Vishnu

Sahasranamam, stanza by stanza. Which has word by word meanings and an

explanation of the whole background of the stanza. I am looking for the same

detail or much more if available for *Lalitha Sahasranamam* in English. I do

have a few downloads of the meanings of each Lalitha Sahasranamam which are

available on the internet. I did share the same with a swami at a temple I

visit, he then advised me of " Lalitha Sahasranama Bhashyam " to get a complete

understanding. He said that there are books available on this in India. My

question to all Srimatha devotees is that, if it is available on internet

somewhere or if someone has a electronic copy of the same. Requesting you to

share the same.

Om Sree Mathre Namah.

Thank you!!

If you are willing to purchase a book,

Devi Bhakta has this one on his Amazon booklist:

Lalita-Sahasranma

L. M. Joshi

Hardcover: 470 pages

Publisher: DK Print World; 1 edition (February 1998)

ISBN-10: 8124601046

ISBN-13: 978-8124601044

Amazon carries it, of course.

I don't own the book and so I can't comment on the detail of

the commentary.

You can also check http://www.abebooks.com/ for other prices and to see what

else is readily available. Use the advanced search capability to restrict the

search to your country of residence, and try all the common

transliterations/spellings for Lalita Sahasranama.

There is a very good book called The Thousand Names of the Divine Mother

available from theammashop.org. It includes a scholarly commentary. It

explains and discusses each name in depth.

Several versions are available in book form; for

the English versions, see

http://www.abebooks.com/

Search using " Lalita Sahasranama " and " Lalita Sahasranamam "

in the 'title' field.

And finally, here is the work by Nora, who posted the bhashyam in this group

earlier and incorporated it in the home page.

It is a bit difficult to find, for obvious reasons.

Might be a good place to start. Click on Lalitasahasranama link in the left

panel/frame.

Here's the complete info on the book, if

that helps:

The Thousand Names of the Divine Mother: Sri Lalita Sahasranama

T.V. Narayana Menon (Commentary); K.V. Dev (Editor); M.N. Boodiri (Translator)

468 p

ISBN: 1879410672 9781879410671

Publisher: San Ramon, CA : Mata Amritanandamayi Center, 1996.

One would think you could get it in India, considering how

popular Ammachi is.

Lalita Sahasranama Bhashyam name by name was discussed in these pages

continuously by Nora, closely following Bhaskararaya's commentary translated

into English. There were important and sometimes critical contributions by

several members incldg DB, most of them senior SV practitioners. It will be best

if you can access these pages which I believe must be available on SS website. I

assure you this is a compendium of rare insights provided by many into Lalita

Sahasranama which is not a collection of names but an integral part of mantra

shaastra in Shaakta lore and very efficacious as an applied science.
