Shakti puja for peace?

Namaste,

Is there a specific puja one would do for peace? Not for oneself but

for others, just peace in general.

I find some of the tension and violence of the world a little

overwhelming. It seems like, in addition to concrete worldly steps

that one would take, there might be a specific ritual geared to

bringing peace into the warring and violent world.

Leave it to siddha gurus. Our poojas will be too small to make an impact

Namaste.

Respectfully I disagree. Praying for peace is a noble idea.

While I'm not a guru, I do have a few suggestions:

Learn and practice one of the many Shanti Mantras. Many exist, and

there are some beautiful recording to listen to and master the

intonation.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanti_Mantra

Remember that one of the many forms of the Goddess is Peace

( " Shanti " ). A famous line from the Devi Mahatyam states:

" ya devi sarva bhutesu shanti rupena samsthita

namastasyai namastyai namstasyai namo namaha "

To the goddess who resides in all beings in the form of peace,

we bow down to her, we bow down to her, we bow down to her again and again.

As for a specific devata to conduct puja for - all of the gods and

goddesses like peace, but you may wish to approach Mother Laxmi,

Saraswati, Santoshi Mata (the mother of contentment), or Sri Ganesha.

Best of luck to you. May your sadhana bear fruit.

Jai Maa!

What if we all did it together? Maybe that would make a difference.

And, doesn't the Mother listen to the sincere pleading? Would not our

sincere desire make a difference to the Mother Who hears all?

Every day human mothers bring peace to their squabbling children. Can

not our Divine Mother lead us to peace?

There must be a way, even to only make some small difference. A

bubble of difference, a little space in the clutter of vengeance.

Shakti meaning sacred force, power or energy. It may be small for one

individual but if you combine it as a group it will merge and grow

into one powerful force.

I support a good cause always. If the intention is good, good it will

be for us and the whole around us. I have a proposal. Lets have a

timetable each individual sit and pray for world peace, we do it all

together at the same time and day. This is one of our sadhana. What

say you all?

This method is called collective prayer and it has tremendous effect on worly

matters. I conducted with school children of strength of nearly 1100 and during

those days tension between pakistan and India averted by many times.

With belief after doing meditation of 20mts 5 mts to be on one sigle subject

brings improvement at most rapidly.

Thus for individual such prayer got more effective.

Namaste,

I think this is a lovely idea. Since we are in different time zones

perhaps we should aim for the weekend when it might be easier for us

all to be available at the same time.

Namaste,

I must say I'm rather charmed by the small bit quoted here by S.

Santo Sengupta. I'm not sure it's enough for a full fledged puja, but

it would be simple for me to memorize. I could set up the altar

properly with incense and offerings and chant this 108 times. Would

that work? Is there a more specific suggestion?

A drop of water is small, too, and seems to have little impact. Yet a drop,

a drop, another drop... in time together they can fill an ocean, or a river

which carves deep canyons within even the hardest of rock in time!

Don't doubt your impact, no matter how small it may seem to be. We each need

to pray for peace in these days, and allow the spirit of peace to grow first

in each of our own hearts, and then rippling out to others in ever widening

concentric waves...

Even if they are just tiny ripples. Tiny ripples in the ocean after all

accumulate and become huge waves!

Besides, what is to lose?

Pranam. This is a great idea. I am up for it. Just send me the timings and other

stuff. By Her grace, May the Universe be suffused with Shanthi.

Namaste,

What is the best way to pick a time?

Also, should it be all at the same time simultaneously, or should it

be each at a decided time in their own time zone?

Thank you all for the overwhelmed response. I've referred this to

Shri Bhasuranananda Natha and he have given me the instruction on how

we can go about doing it. Proposed day will be on Monday [next week].

I will give you all the details later on.

I love this idea! I will very gladly participate on Monday. I will

do a simple puja and chant with you all. Ma will be listening to

us. Even if it affects no one in the outside world to be more

peacefull, at least it is a beginning on having true peace within

ourselves and that is so important. There is no peace unless each

person evolves it within their hearts.
