Dear All, These days for the paucity of time, Iam sending some private emails which I had sent long time ago to some people, as postings. This email was sent regarding Varahi devi. Varahi Devi is one of the Sapthamaatrukaa devis. She also has a name Dandini. She does what is known as 'Vaaksthambhanam'. 'Vaaksthambhanam' means to stop speech. Not only that She can stop any work. In other words She functions as 'Karyasthambini'. In the Lalitha Sahasrnama litany Her name appears in the Phalashruthi stating that 'She attacks the enemies of those recite the litany'. Her clothes and ornaments are all yellow in colour. However, She does wear a coral Mala too. Those who do or want to do an upasana of Maha Varahi must wear yellow clothes and must do the japa with a yellow mani mala for full results. Those who are successful in doing Her sadhana can win any argument and do a Jalasthambhana and Agni sthambhana very easily. Rajarajeshwari Amba has two ministers Mantrini(Shyamala Devi) and Dandini(Varahi Devi). First Shyamala Devi is sadhanized to get what is called 'Buddhiyoga paripoornatwam'.Yoga Varahi Sadhana gives the 'Atma chaitanya' necessary. The Yoga shastras call this as 'Baahyaanuvitta Samadhi'. Mahavarahi's mantra is 113 syllabled. Aim glaum aim namo bhagavati vartali vartali varahi varahi varahamukhi .................................................kuru

kuru aim glaum thah thah thah thah hum phat svaha. Her yantra is a triangle enclosed within a circle, a hexagram surrounding this, and the hexagram itself being surrounded by two circles In Her names Panchami is very important. Shrushti, Sthithi,Samharam,Thirodhanam and Anugraham are five yogic components of Prapancha. In this the fifth element,Anugraham,is bestowed upon by Sadashiva.Varahi devi is not only the anugraha shakthi of this Sadashiva but also the Acharya's Atmavidya shakthi. In Tamilnadu there is a Tamil text by name 'Varahi Malai'. This text is very famous and it also depicts how adi-pamaras used to worship Varahi

Devi. Panchami also has another meaning. This is because She is also called the Danda-natha ( Lady commander of the forces of the mother-goddess, symbolizing the might of SriVidya). As Varahi ( "hog-faced' or 'the great consumer')she destroys evil forces that obstructs the devotees' progress, paralyses the enemies, and lead the devotees ultimately to Sri-Vidyas. She is classed as the fifth among the seven "mother-like" divinities ( Saptmatrkas) and hence also called Panchami. In the fifth step below the simhasana of Mahatripura Sundari Shree Rajarajeshwari

there is a square and this Panchapanchika peetha resides this Ugra Devi as the Panchaambika devi.(In Lalitha Sahasranama there is a name 'Panchami, Panchabhuthesi'-both refer to this deity also apart from many other meanings). With Kurukulla, she is accorded the parental status to Sri-Chakra( Lalitha Tripura-Sundari ). While Kurukulla represents the full moon, Varahi ( the devouere) represents the new-moon. And while Varahi represents the illumination ( prakasa) aspects of the mother-goddess, Kurukulla is the "deliberation" ( vimarsa) aspect. In another aspect, Varahi is also said to be one of the Yoginis,

taking the form of a boar. She is said to lift up the earth with her tusks to confer benefits on all creatures. She is imagined as an eight-armed and three-eyed lady with a face of a hog, seated under a palmyra tree, and functioning as a trusted attendent of the Goddess as as her chief counsellor In this form she is known as Chaitanya-bhairavi ( the devotee's association of strength) She is being described as a fierce ( Maha-Ghora ) and as Commander of the forces, she moves about in a chariot frawn by boars. She is said to reside in the ocean of sugar-cane juice ( ikshu ), one of the four oceans that surrounds the mother goddess., holding her court in the island of nine-jewels, and facing the mother-goddess. Varahi is a bali (animal sacrifice) devata, one of Lalita's receivers of offerings. Her four alchemical elements (dhatus) are known as the four fires.

Kurukulla's alchemical elements are known as the five Shaktis. The combination of these five Shaktis (downward pointing triangles) and four fires (upward pointing triangles), forms the complex figure in the centre of the Shri Cakra. Varahi's four are the twelve (three x four) sun kalas, twelve sidereal constellations. Kurukulla's five triangles are the fifteen (five x three) Kalas of the moon, fifteen lunar days. The complete individual grows within nine months to be born as a Shri Yantra or plant. The flowering of this plant is shown by the 24 petals of the yantra. In the 37 mantrabaddha Rashmimala the 36th mantra refers to this

deity. In the Sree Chakra the 4rth Avarana finds Varahi as a deity installed. In Her hands there is a Valampuri Shanka this removes Her devotee's avidya. Her Chakra(like Vishnu's sudarshana chakra) keeps foes at bay. Her sword sunders the knots of Maya and does not let the Nama-rupa and the ego thereof of the Bhaktha to come again once He has crossed a certain stage. It also removes Adhyatimkam,Aadibhowtikam and

Aadidevikam miseries Adhyatmika misery=Fever, sorrow Aadhibowtika misery=Snakes, scorpions and other poisionous organisms and fearful animals Aadidevika Misery=Lightening, thunder, earthquake, etc. Our Shareera(body) is in itself a Bhoomi(kshetra). That is why in Vishnu Sahasranama there is a name of Vishnu called 'Kshetragna'-knower of the field/body. The karmas which we do are the seeds for this field called body.If it is bad we reap weeds if it is good we reap a bounteous crop. But the process goes on and on and this is where Sthambini Devi Varahi comes and sunders the final part our body and the associated karmas. She first cuts the bad karmas and burns them. And just as a deshelled rice is of no use for farming again except for food, so too the transmuted bad karmas do not sprout forth as weeds but give happiness because of Her transmutation. Then She transmutes even Good karmas to give Atmachaitanya and that will be the final step when the rupa and the arupa merge in the Devi and the feeling that 'Iam doing'

merges at the feet of this Panchami! To that Blissful feet do I bow! Om Varahi Varahamukhi Vaushadaakarshaya Akarshaya Swaha! Yours yogically, Shreeram Balijepalli
