Siva temples with mercury linga - need help

Dear members,

I am looking out for Siva temples having mercury (rasa) linga installed.

I heard that there is a rasa linga somewhere near vellangiri hills near

coimbatore at Jaggi Vasudev's ashram. Is it a genuine rasa linga with proper

rasa digbandhana performed as per aghora mantras?

Dhyanalinga is conscecrated by Sathguru Jaggi Vasudev at the Isha Yoga centre,

situated in the foothills of Velliangiri hills.it is a divine and blissful

experience and apart from it Sathguru has also conscecrated a rasalinga inside a

theertha kunda in the same premises.

Consecration

The most important aspect of a temple is the energies of its deity. The process

of enshrining this energy in such a way that it is available to the visitor is

called the prathista or the consecration. Basically, there are two kinds of

consecration processes - mantra prathista and prana prathista

When consecration is done through chanting of certain mantras ? and performing

certain yagas and yagnas ?, it is called mantra prathista. Deities so

consecrated constantly require poojas and other rituals to maintain its

energies. In contrast, prana prathista is done in such a way that the energies

are locked. The deities, then, maintain their energies at a constant level and

do not require performing of rituals or any means of re-energizing

In the Dhyanalinga, through an intense process of prana prathista, energies of

all the seven chakras ? were raised to the very peak and locked to prevent

dissipation over time. Hence there are no poojas or rituals in the Dhyanalinga.

It is expected that the energies of the Dhyanalinga will not suffer dissipation

for at least 5000 years.

At the base of the Dhyanalinga is a tub filled with etheric substances, called

the 'Veerya sthana', comprising mainly mercury solidified through methods of

Indian alchemy. There is a cylindrical column at the center of the Linga about

one inch in diameter, called the Linga Randra, which contains a copper tube

filled with mercury, called the Linga Danda.

The consecration process lasted over three years and people involved in the

consecration underwent intense sadhana, overcoming the limitations of the body

and the mind to energize the Dhyanalinga. The practices and processes took them

to realms beyond the physical and mental dimensions. They sustained certain

states of samadhi, where contact with the body was minimal. They also embarked

on a Karma Yatra across different parts of the country, where their past

bondages were dissolved in heightened levels of awareness.

Usually, during prana prathista, people involved in the consecration use their

own physical and energy bodies as tools for the process of the consecration. As

a result, it becomes difficult for the people involved in the consecration to

retain their physical bodies after the consecration process is over.

The consecration of the Dhyanalinga took a heavy toll on Sadhguru's body. Until

the very end of the process it was not guaranteed that Sadhguru would retain his

physical body. Finally when he did, it was a much-damaged body that he was left

with. Doctors and specialists could not make out the cause of the damage or

suggest any course of remedy. Ordinarily, they would classify some of the

conditions that they came across in Sadhguru's medical reports as impossible or

clubbed under the generic category - cancer. Subsequent test reports seldom

showed adherence to any predicted pattern and left the doctors baffled as to how

he was even alive.

Dear Sriram

namasthe. There is a place called tirumullaivaayil near avadi, en route to

tiruvallur, near Chennai. There is a mercury linga. As per the stalapurANa, when

the king rulling this area , was trying to clear the mulla vanam( hence the name

thiru mullai vaayil) to make a path for him army, the sword of the accidently

fell on this linga, and blood oozed out of it. While the king repented for his

action, the Lord told him that HE wanted the linga to he in this form. So even

today, one finds the top portion of the huge linga with a very deep dent and

there is no abhisehka to the linga in the garbagraha. To keep the Lord cool, the

linga is always covered in chandana , save one particular day in the year, when

the abhisehka happens and again HE is covered in chandana. ( the shrine is

called vaduvudaiamman samEtha mullai vana naathaswAmi.)

All abhishekhas happen only to the rasa linga in a small shrine in the second

prakAra of the temple.

I am not aware of the process of concecration here. will try asking them next

time I visit there. Being a very old temple and administered by the Govt etc, I

am not sure if the current people there will know this. Will revert in case I

get any information.

I have heard that the dhyanalinga of vellayangiri( by Guru jaggi vaasudev) has

been concecrated by a very specific process by this guru and quite a few of his

disciples who were in this path, couldnt hold their energy levels for long and

hence had to leave the body. It finally happened due to HIS and this guru's

guru's grace.

Thanks a lot for your valuable information. I would plan to visit these two

places this year.

Dear gopi, the mullainathar also remind me of another siva temple with similar

name near Papanansanam district which sports with Garbharakshambikai temple.

Here too, the siva is called Mullaivananathar. Am i right?
