Guest guest
Dear Srinivasa,The used darba grass can be wrapped in paper and disposed of just like trash without allowing it to be trampled by our leg. The black til in water can be disposed of in kitchen sink and washed away. This water should not fall/spill on our leg.G.BalasubramanianPadmaja Sunchu <padmaja.sunchuTo: Sunday, August 30, 2009 1:17:33 PM Tarpanam Question Om Gurave Namah Namasthe Can any learned member, inform me about how to discard the tarpanam material. Guest guest
Namaste, It is a good idea to discard the water/sesame seeds at the base of a plant. Same during winter too in USA. Guest guest
The chances of til seeds germinating and growing are there (except in winter) if discarded near or on the base of a plant. It could even become a weed.G.BalasubramanianRavi Poruri <rporuri Sent: Sunday, August 30, 2009 5:37:37 PMRe: Tarpanam Question Namaste, It is a good idea to discard the water/sesame seeds at the base of a plant. Guest guest
Namaste, Someone suggested that the sesame seeds may germinate and suggested throwing the water in sink. However, germination of sesame seeds is not really a problem. If you put the water in sink, it will eventually mix with all kinds of stuff in the drainage system, including feces. That should be avoided if possible. On the other hand, offering the seeds and water as food to an existing plant in your house (even one a pot) respectfully lets a plant grow with that energy. That is better in my humble view. Guest guest
Namaste, Yes, you can. It is particularly useful to add the rishi/rishis of your gotra/pravara or any rishis that you may be attracted to. Each being has a mind (Moon, water) and a soul (Sun, fire). Gods and rishis self-identify with the soul more than the mind, while pitris identify with the mind and its desires more than the soul. However, pitris too have souls and gods/rishis too have minds, however subtle they may be. Homam works at the soul level and tarpana at the mind level. It is a useful do tarpana to minds that have an effect on your mind.
