Guest guest
This has alway been a question to me. On top of it, I have been asking priests at temples to give a reason as to why do we wear " Poonool " . Nobody gave me a proper answer. I would be great if someone here clarifies this for me.   Thanks  Vishwa 2009/7/22 arnabhalderdruk <arnabhalderdruk  namaste,i wanted to know that why there is difference in the no. of threads in punool or yagna pavit of brahmins. as rishi valmiki became rishi at later age so can a person do upanayanam after 16. Guest guest
There is no difference in the number of threads in yagnopaveetams. Brahmachari wears one single yagnopaveetam. married people(Grahastas) wear two. A third yagnopaveetam is worn by some married people in place of the third peace of cloth required to be worn by grahastas. There could be difference in the quality of thread such as thickness etc. Sanyasis discard yagnopaveetham at the time of entering Sanyasa ashrama.G.Balasubramanian , "arnabhalderdruk" <arnabhalderdruk wrote:>> namaste,> i wanted to know that why there is difference in the no. of threads in punool or yagna pavit of brahmins. as rishi valmiki became rishi at later age so can a person do upanayanam after 16.>
