Shri Hanuman Chalisa

100th Gnana Yagna & 108 Samashti Havan

After months of preparation, 108 Shri Hanuman Chalisa Samashti Havan was organized in Mumbai on 15th February 2009 at the Andheri Sports Complex. The aim was to perform an actual havan with 108 havan kundas and 108 times chanting of the Hanuman Chalisa by as many people as possible to express our gratitude to Shri Hanumanji for all the blessings He has showered on us. All the efforts paid fruit with more than 15000 people finally participating in the havan.

This unique, first-of-its-kind program was organized by Chinmaya Mission Mumbai under the aegis of the Central Chinmaya Mission Trust to commemorate the completion of the 100th Hanuman Chalisa gyana yagna by Swami Swaroopanandaji. Swamiji has been conducting discourses on the Hanuman Chalisa all over the world and the 100th such yagna was conducted at Lokhandwala Gardens, Andheri, Mumbai very successfully with more than 3000 people attending the programme. Swamiji also conducted more than 16 one-day talks all over Mumbai from November 2008 to January 2009 to spread His Glory and create awareness about the yagna and the havan.

According to Swamiji, the chanting of Hanuman Chalisa helps an individual gain fearlessness, confidence, and inner peace. One also fulfils all desires and gains material benefits by chanting this divine chalisa. And when chanted as a group, the benefits are manifold. The benefits also accrue to society at large.

The highlight of the havan was the benevolent visit and blessings by Poojya Guruji Swami Tejomayananda. He completed his morning discourse at Kanpur and flew in specially to spend about an hour in the yagnashala and then flew back to reach Kanpur in time for his evening discourse! He offered a main ahuti in the havan kunda, sang one round of the Hanuman Chalisa with the Swaranjali team and also briefly addressed the gathering by explaining the philosophical significance and the practical aspects of the ‘ashta siddhis’ that would be attained by all who chant the Hanuman Chalisa.
