Guest guest
Dear Shri PVR: The Ganapati Homam procedure includes a Tarpanam to Lord Ganapati prior to the suddhanabali. The same step is missing in the other homam manuals such as the one for MahaLakshmi. Is there a reason for the inclusion (or exclusion) of the step? Shouldn't we offer tarpanam to any diety? [perhaps by prefixing it with a mantra, exactly as we do in the Pancha or Shodasha upachara pooja] Regards. p.s. We need to actively monitor the group and remove spammers and their messages! Guest guest
We can offer taranam to any diety. For Mahaganapati, we say mahagaNapatim tarpayaami For Narasimha, we can say narasimha: tRpyataam Like wise we can use dwitiya vibhakthi and say tarpayami or say prathama vibhakhti and say tRpyataam I suppose it is .... swaahaa| Om Sri Mahalakshmi: tRpyataam .... swaahaa| Om Sri Sanaischara: tRpyataam .... swaahaa| Om Sri Kuja: tRpyataam .... swaahaa| Om Sri Sadasiva: tRpyataam so on so. When I invoke multiple deities, I do tarpanam for each. Guest guest
Namaste Vijay: Yes, we can do it. But my question was specific to Sri PVR as to why he skipped it. In one of the manuals he explicitly skips it (I think Chandi homam manual) So I was trying to get to the root of why it was included in the mahaganapati homam manual and skipped else where.
