Guest guest
Dear Narasimha, Namaskar. I have a quick question for you if you have a moment. Are there any negative implications as per Vaastu or any other scriptural source regarding having Puja room in one's basement? Besides this, I read that when reciting Japa one should face a certain direction, could you kindly elaborate on this? Thank you very much. Regards. Guest guest
The result of doing Japam while facing different direction: East: Spiritual progress West: Fame South: Longevity/Health (Yama) North: Money (Kubera) As far as I know, having pooja room in basement does not cause problem. How ever, having it in other directions may be more beneficial. Having puja room in North East/East is good. Guest guest
Namaste, If a basement is completely under the ground level, it is not a great idea to have a pooja room there. I am not sure of scriptural references, but I do know that basements under ground level contain a somewhat taamasic energy. It is good for sadhanas of devatas such as Chhinnamasta, but not great for most regular sadhanas. For most poojas and homas, the best direction to face is east. Guest guest
Namaste If what you suggest is true, than in India a lot of seers did sadhana for many years in caves and many of them are underground too ... I have seen some of them. I donot think underground=tamasic. In fact many ashrams in India I have seen have basement type rooms as meditation halls. Any clean place is good, In Guru Gita Lord Shiva has described the types of asana materials and direction of seat. As per guru gita, west is considered good for wealth and woollen asana of yellowish color. There are more definitions one each for north, east and south. Along with Asana materials. I do not remember all though. If anyone interested I can dig up. Best Regards Mitesh , " Narasimha P.V.R.
