Mass Satya Narayana Vratam in Greater Boston and North Carolina

Namaste,

 

I am reproducing a mail sent by my wife to some people in the Boston area. We are performing a mass Satya Narayana vratam in Boston on March 14 (Meena sankranthi day). We can accommodate 50 couples.

 

I will be chanting the mantras and giving instructions, while participants do pooja on their individual peethas.

 

Swami Sathasivom, head priest of Kalikambal temple in Chennai, whom I mentioned on this list a few times before, will be a guest and be at the pooja. Participants can meet him and take his blessings.

 

Anybody interested is most welcome to participate in the pooja. You are also welcome to come and see it instead of participating. The hall we rented is quite big and can accommodate many people.

We humbly request your presence and participation in the " Samoohika Satyanarayana Vratam " on March 14th , 2009 .

 

We will make all the arrangements. We will set the mantapam. We will supply all the pooja materials. The only pooja saamagri you need to get is the idols of Narayana and Lakshmi, kalasam (water pot of silver/copper/clay/something else), panchapatraa (a silver/copper/multi-metal tumbler/cup) and 45 coins (any coins is fine). The Pooja will take approximately 4 hours. Prasadam will be served.

 

The pooja starts at 10:30 am. So we request everybody to please be at the venue by 10:00 am. We are accomodating 50 couples by email registration only.

 

 

The Venue is Swaminarayan Temple, Lowell. Please make a note of it.

 

Registration is absolutely free.

Dear PVR,

It is great to hear that u are doing this great activity. I am in

India so i can not attend and enjoy ensuing bliss of the same.

It is stated by masters that mass puja provides joy to all.

Meditation too can be done together. Solitary Meditation is

considered best. My personal experience is also same. One definitely

enjoys both, but i feel solitary meditation is better.

 

What is your opinion on above? I think one suits to some and other

suits to some other people.

When I do Satya Narayana vratam on every Pournima night at my house, I

accommodate a little bit of meditation in it. At the end of the pooja, I ask

all people to meditate with the 12-lettered mantra of Satya Narayana 108

times. We all chant together in one voice 54 times and then we all chant

mentally with closed eyes 54 times. Usually, the second half when it is

mentally chanted is a little more peaceful and blissful.

 

Mental meditation without sound is better. Simultaneous mental meditation by

several sincere people who have their mind focused on god is very good and

has a charm of its own.

 

When pooja is done sincerely, it also creates some energy in the place. It

is a good idea to close eyes, keep the back and neck erect and meditate

mentally for a few minutes, at the end of pooja. I suggest a small

meditation session at the end of rituals such as pooja or homam. When you

spend some time creating some energy, it is a good idea to let it work on

you and clean you up a little bit.

One thing i have noted in chanting. When i chant loudly (CP or Any

Mantra or 108Names of Mahalakshmi) and then switch to only mental

mode it gives a good experience of peacefulness. I have noticed that

it helps chanting Loudly for some time and then chanting mentally

for a brief period.
