Dear Jitender

One effect of increasing Bhuta Agni could be a stronger capacity of visualizing things and greater concentration.

Namaste,

Eating less (just enough to live healthily) and focusing mind on god at all times will help. But any changes have to be gradual and not drastic.

When you do homam or meditation, do it on an empty stomach. Try to have a gap of atleast 2 hours from the time you eat and you do homam/meditation. If you are doing it in the morning, do not eat anything before. That should help.

If there is some food being actively digested, it limits the bhutagni in the system and hence the spiritual experience will be minimized.

Do more sadhana. Spend a lot of time in homam/meditation. Even at other times, think of god. That will enhance bhutagni.

Namaste,

I want to add a few more words.

To limit the jatharaagni and increase bhootagni, one should also eat food that is very simple to digest.

Eating spicy food with a lot of chillies, cinnamon, cloves, pepper etc increases the fire. Avoiding such spices, complicated vegetables, meat and complex proteins such as red kidney beans etc and sticking to steamed rice, bread, simple proteins like moong dal and thoroughly cooked simple vegetables such as squash, carrots etc and using simple spices such as coriander powder and cumene poweder will help in easy digestion and keeping jatharaagni low but sufficient for healthy living.

In fact, most sadhus eat "sattwik food" that is nutritious, simple and easy to digest. This is a smart thing to do if one wants to increase bhootaagni and increase the "digestion" of subtle spiritual experience (as opposed to wasting so much energy on digestion of physical food).

Namaste,

Eating spicy food increases the jatharagni. That is why most sadhus stick to

saattwik food without heavy spices.

Some habits become an obstacle in spiritual sadhana and slow down things.

But it is possible to make progress despite unconducive habits.

Narasimha
