Guest guest
Recently, I find ideas about meaning of Chandi. The word comes from Chand or moon but full moon. Chand is the symbol of cutting mental conflict. In Devi Mahatyam, several dual conflicts are identified. But I do not find cutting the conflict. It appears that the triad 'namastasyai' means cutting conflict. Is it sound ? I am bit confused. , pyari_h <no_reply wrote: > > Jaya Sri Radhey! In Devi Mahatyam, several dual conflicts are identified. dduttaroyji, while in English it may be chand(moon), I think in Sanskrit or Hindi, the 'd' in Chand is a different consonant. Not D for Dada, but D for Damru. Chand in this case means terrible, or very fierce, which Chandi is, at least to negative forces. The moon is represented by Tripura Sundari, who represents Divine beauty, divine love & divine calmness. She is in some ways opposite to Durga, as she is cooling while Durga is heating(Kapha vs Pitta in Ayurvedic terms). But Tripura can only descend once Durga has destroyed all the negativity. All the demons and other characters in the Durga Saptashati stand for symbolic things. Like Raktabeej is desires, or thoughts- if you kill one, 2 takes its place. Mahishasur is the ego- it tries to take many forms, just like our ego tries to pretend its many things, in order to fool others & ourself. But its real form is that of a bull, which in Indian thought represents stupidity, strong idiotic ego, cruelty. Funnily, the bull is also the symbol of Merril Lynch, which just shows these qualties, which are bad for the Sadhak, as good for the businessman(or not- considering the damage these banks have done to the economy, they would have been better choosing a cow for their logo!). Shumbh-Nishumbh- I read they represent our 2 main bad habits- self depreciation(oh poor me, I am always in trouble) & self pity. That said, Im not convinced, as I think there maybe another explanation, especially for things like only 1 of these brothers fights the Devi at a time, although they plan to attack her together. If anyone knows, pls share. love, Shantnu
Guest guest
jai gurudev bcoz mataji killed chand and munda she is called chandika - chamunda - chandi - etc. killing demons is not a myth, there is a philosophical meaning also. but there r actual temples dedicated to her. in mysore, chamundeshwari temple is dedicated to her as she killed mahisasur here, and hence the name mysore. simialrly chandi devi mandir in himalaya is where she killed shumbh nishumbh etc. in kolhapur, she killed kolhasur so the town is named kolhapur. similarly many temples r there.pls read srimad devi bhagwat puran and brahmanda pruan real historic places r given. om shakti gopal On 9/23/09, shanracer <no_reply > wrote: > > > > <%40>, dduttaroy > <no_reply wrote: > > > > Recently, I find ideas about meaning of Chandi. At least this is my experience, others can also share their views. love, Shantnu

Mantras are more powerful when chanted in proper rythm, which is why Krishna said Sam Veda is more powerful than Rig Veda. luv, s

Guest guest
Further to this " Nath Sampyadaya " has five times. Its chanting of the " Jai Guru " The three times is for the sansaric (family) person. For sadhus they have to go beyond, and its recommended the repeatation is five time. The three problems are overcome. Fourth one is pure soul and fifth one is beyond individual existance. --- On Sun, 27/9/09, udaykumar S.K. <udaykumar001 wrote: udaykumar S.K. <udaykumar001 Re: Re: Navaratri Pujas Sunday, 27 September, 2009, 3:34 PM Samarth Ramdas said, There are three types of problems in human life.
