Guest guest
My paternal grandfather lived a life of a recluse and did not return home after going for usual evening walk in the year 1984 when his age was 74. Despite the efforts my father made, he could not be traced. On two earlier occassions he returned back or was otherwise found after several months. We were not sure about his existence. Some people advised that we cannot perform aparakarma till his age crosses 100. Some people advised that it should be performed on completion of 12/13 years and in case he is found subsequently, prayaschitta should be performed. My father - who is now 74 - is the only child and was very worried about the apara karma. So we performed the karma last year on mahalaya amavasya. My father is sure that the process was not done correctly and completely as the brahmin who performed it was a novice/ apprentice. The shrarda was also performed on the following day and it was once again held in the next few weeks in our residence (without homa). My father wants to perform the original rites once again as he feels that what was done is not complete and correct. Most people said that we cannot perforn the rites again and again. However, when we went to gokarna, we were told that mokshanarayana homa can be performed along with few others. They were evasive about repeating. I respectfully request you to let me know what is the best way that can give happiness to my father.
