Baba's brother's Samadhi Day Shree Gajanan maharaj attained Mahasamadhi on 8th

September 1910 . He had indicate to the place where HE would be 'resting' after

giving up HIS mortal body. He did not 'die' in the common sense of the term. It

was a Yogic sanjeevani samadhi - maharaj chose the day after Ganesha Chaturthi

to end HIS'avataar karya' ( His spiritual mission as incarnation of the Almighty

)- knownas Rishi panchami .

On 8th Sep 1910 , at 8 am , HE sat in yogic posture , closedHIS eyes , and with

Yogic powers controlled his life breath by taking it intohis head and uttering

the words " Jay Gajanan " .It is recorded in the biography that Gajanan Maharaj

was fond of 'durvas' (grass blades) , 'modaks' ( a sweet with coconut filling )

which is offered asNaivedya ( holy offering of food) to Lord Ganesha. He chose

this day becauseGanesha is immersed on the following day of Bhadrapad Chaturthi

and the humanbody should also be 'immersed' in samadhi accordingly. Thousands of

devoteescame from far and near to witness the samadhi being created on that day.

A lump of butter which was placed on maharaj's head by Govind Shastri ofDongaon,

,6 hours after HE left HIS body, continued to melt vigorously ,indicating that

Maharaj's body was warm inspite of having " passed away " . Years later after

Gajanan Maharaj gave up HIS body , the Chairperson of Shegaonsansthan and an

ardent devotee

of Maharaj, Shri Hari Kukaji Patil could notresist his desire to have a glance

at the body of maharaj in samadhi. He got the slab opened and he could see that

the flowers and tulsi leaves which placed onthe head of maharaj in samadhi were

as fresh as they were several years ago .This miracle amply proves that Gajanan

maharaj was a messenger of God or Godincarnate Himself.

Message from the teachings of Sai baba for 25th August Wisdom in Sayings,

Proverbs, Messages

'Sayings' refer to a word. It is a medium through which we express our feelings

to others. A person's reputation gets enhanced by the power of good words

spoken. Word has power to develop or destroy self-confidence of a person. At

times, words work like good medicine. Words heal sick minds and bodies. Words

that teach good and show good are called a 'proverb'. Some great souls with

their mellowed spiritual wisdom have gifted the humanity with gems of truth

through words and books. This is the priceless treasure of wisdom entrusted to

us. Baba always taught " although you may not do charity always, but do not scold

or drive away those who seek your alms or beg " . It is not mere proverb. It is a

leading light in our hand that guides our lives. We would say a good word for

the benefit of someone. A word thus spoken for the good of others must be

beneficial. We should abide by it. Words that warn us to mend our behaviour

might appear bitter. Still, they should

be implemented. We know how much Damu Anna gained by following Baba's advice by

not investing in a trade. When we are in a dilemma whether to do a work or not,

Baba guides us in one form or the other. We should immediately obey and get

benefited and saved. We should, therefore, cultivate the habit of talking less

but in a smoother, sweeter, polished manner.
