This time, we can get ahead of them and we need your help. We're launching a new national TV ad to set the public stage for a truly comprehensive approach to tackling our dependence on foreign oil and transitioning to a clean energy economy -- all while solving the climate crisis: http://search./search;_ylt=A0geu1ToTTlKSw8BWgFVqZp4?p=climate+crisis Be one of the first to watch the ad and chip in $5 to keep it on the air: http://www.RepowerAmerica.org/chipin5 https://secure.repoweramerica.org/page/contribute/juneadzero The ad lays out how threats to our economy, national security and environment are all connected to our national energy policies and how we've got to transition to a clean energy economy and create jobs right here in America. Support keeping this ad up through the summer: https://secure.repoweramerica.org/page/contribute/juneadzero We have an unprecedented opportunity this year to put an end to dirty energy policies of the past and set the foundation for America's clean energy future. Produced by the Global Change Research Program, a joint venture of 13 federal agencies, the report compiles the best available science that concludes that climate changes are underway now and actions must be taken to address the impacts. Alliance for Climate Protection President and CEO Maggie Fox said, " The scientific data in this report underscores what scientists have known and been telling us – the effects of climate change are real, they are here today, and they are endangering America's way of life. If we are to address this urgent and unprecedented threat to the health of our nation and the world, we must immediately reduce our carbon emissions and expedite the transition to a clean energy economy. " Utilizing the most current data available on rising temperatures, carbon emissions, and sea level rise, the new report provides a much-needed baseline of information for existing and future measurement of the effects of climate change and their impacts in the future. Added Fox, " The findings from NOAA's new report make the strongest case yet for the urgency of passing comprehensive climate and energy legislation this year to avoid the most devastating effects of climate change and position America to lead the world toward a clean energy future. " For more information on the report, visit " Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States. " About the Alliance for Climate Protection The Alliance for Climate Protection is educating the American people through scientific facts of the importance and urgency of adopting and implementing effective and comprehensive solutions to the climate crisis. --------------------- Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States - Home This web page will introduce and lead you through the content of the most comprehensive and authoritative report of its kind. The report summarizes the science and the impacts of climate change on the United States, now and in the future. It focuses on climate change impacts in different regions of the U.S. and on various aspects of society and the economy such as energy, water, agriculture, and health. It's also a report written in plain language, with the goal of better informing public and private decision making at all levels. In addition to discussing the impacts of climate change in the U.S., the report also highlights the choices we face in response to human-induced climate change. It is clear that impacts in the United States are already occurring and are projected to increase in the future, particularly if the concentration of heat-trapping greenhouse gases in the atmosphere continues to rise. So, choices about how we manage greenhouse gas emissions will have far-reaching consequences for climate change impacts. Similarly, there are choices to be made about adaptation strategies than can help to reduce or avoid some of the undesirable impacts of climate change. This report provides many of the scientific underpinnings for effective decisions to be made – at the national and at the regional level. Some Key findings include: Climate changes are underway in the United States and are projected to grow. Climate-related changes are already observed in the United States and its coastal waters. These include increases in heavy downpours, rising temperature and sea level, rapidly retreating glaciers, thawing permafrost, lengthening growing seasons, lengthening ice-free seasons in the ocean and on lakes and rivers, earlier snowmelt, and alterations in river flows. These changes are projected to grow. Crop and livestock production will be increasingly challenged. Agriculture is considered one of the sectors most adaptable to changes in climate. However, increased heat, pests, water stress, diseases, and weather extremes will pose adaptation challenges for crop and livestock production. Threats to human health will increase. Health impacts of climate change are related to heat stress, waterborne diseases, poor air quality, extreme weather events, and diseases transmitted by insects and rodents. Robust public health infrastructure can reduce the potential for negative impacts. http://tinyurl.com/m4rdnp http://www.globalchange.gov/publications/reports/scientific-assessments/us-impac\ \ ts http://tinyurl.com/m4rdnp http://www.salvationscience.com/v226.htm ******************************************************************
