A question about lord Siva and Vishnu

 Aumji  Pranams

 Lord Shiva is pleased with Abhishek or divine version of cool holy  shower

bath  but  why Lord Vishnu needs decorations,  ornaments,perfumes ,music,sweets

and Goddess Lakshmi`s(or feminine) soothing touch.( much like sensuous humans).

And why Lord Vishnu needed a consort only in RAMA and KRISHNA incarnations and

not in the other incarnations?

And Aumji why Sun God prefers Namaskarams in various postures to other forms of

worship.?

 

" Alankaara priyo Vishnuh , Abhisheka priyo Shivaha,Namaskaara priyo Suryah

Brahmano bhojana priyah "   is a verse   learnt in childhood. 

 

Each Deity prefers different forms of worship and the procedure of worship is

well documented in the literature related to the Deity   --- This is rendered

superfluous in the following  adage

 

" Kalou smaranaan mukthih " = During kaliyug repeating the NAME itself brings

salvation IE no elaborate  rituals are needed (During Kaliyug humans can not

follow these rituals )

 

Kindly enlighten me . Curiosity more than serious doubt.

Dear jayaji,

 

Shri gopal ji has given a perfect and beautiful reply to your question. It is

true that Abhishekam of Shivalinga with a mixture of raw milk and water on a

Monday has an important connection with Moon.

 

After ocean churning, when the great poison came out and it started burning the

universe, Lord shiva gulped that poison to save the universe, but held it in

throat and hence called Neelkanthh.

 

Moon god then sit on his head to give him coolness from the effects of poison.

As per Ayurveda too mixture of raw milk and water has a cooling effect on the

body.

 

Hence by offering this cold mixture, we symbolically give solace to Shiva from

the heat of poison, and request him to cool our being from heat of bad karma.
