Normally, the spirit will remain near its body, till it feels it has gotten proper rituals, based on whatever rituals its religon has. Like I was reading in book by a Christian mystic, the Christians light a candle at the grave for 40 days. This is because fire is a great purifier, & burns away the persons attachment to his body. Burning away the body is even better. We have all seen ghosts in movies, like look like skeltons, or like zombies, with their skin falling off, long nails, eyes popping out. These actually exist- they are the people who refused to move on- they still identify with thier body. But since their body has decayed, they get this terrible form. Burning the body was recommend by Indian masters, as it forces the spirit to move on- as the spirit sees its body destroyed, it has to accept it is dead, & move on. Bhutas are newly dead people, who still identify with their body. Pretas are people who died with no one to perform the proper rituals for them. They keep wandering, till they are eventually born as cobras. There are also Dakinis, women who died in childbirth, & who have such a strong attachment to their children, the may even kill them. All these spirits are miserable, but the dont normally attack humans, unless one troubles them(which may happen indirectly, like if you live in their house). A very dangerous category of spirits is the Brahm Raksha, or demon of Brahma. They are more powerful than many Gods. Highly spiritual people, who make even a small mistake, have to spend some time in this form. There are many categories of astral beings- one can spend a lot of time discussing them. luv, S
Guest guest
Thanks for enlightening on the subject. The catagories known to me are bhoota, preta, rakshasa, shakini, dakini, pishacha, jakhini, offcourse brahma rakshasa is difficult to handle, since it has all the spiritual knowledge plus ultimate attachment. I think sati also can be added to this. I have read about " asasara " lady ghost which lives in well. any other types of these are there? lets have some light on this. --- On Sun, 10/5/09, shanracer <no_reply > wrote: shanracer <no_reply > Re: Yaksha Prashana !
