Guest guest
Namaste. I read this today. It was a small story book titled " Narada Stories " (Naradar Kadaikal) in Tamil published by Ramakrishna Mutt. I had recently purchased it for my son. In that book, I saw these sentences. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ " In Brindavan, one day, Narada saw a young woman with two very old sons. The woman was Bhakti devata. Her sons were Gnana and Vairagya. Bhakti devata was born in the Dravida desa. She attained puberty in Kannada desa. She got some achievements in maharasahtra Desa but in Gurjara desa, sheattained old age. She moved north. After reaching Brindavan, she regained her youth. But her sons Gnana and vairagya were as old as always. Seiing their fate Bhakti cried and told of her story to Narada and asked how Gnana and Vairagya can achieve youth like her. Narada tried various means but none could bring youth to them. Then an astral voice said " do sat karma " . Narada met various noble people and rishis to know the meaning of this sentence but none could help. Finally, the Sanakadi rishis (foursome) told Narada that satkarma meant Gnana Yagna. This Gnana yagna was to do parayana of Bhagavata Purana on the banks of Ganga in seven days. While Narada did this yagna, Bhakti devi visited that place along with her old sons Gnana and Vairagya. At the end of this Gnana Yagna they attained youth. Bhakti devi blessed Narada. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This is a classic Purana style of telling an allegory to explain some truths. In this Bhakti, its origins, its moment of glory are told. Also, the fact that Gnana and Vairagya(employed in Dhyana Yoga) are forever in servitude to Bhakti. Another , curious sentence is the birthplace - Dravida desa. I think it was primarily Tamilnadu. Any comments ? Venkat
