Guest guest
Respected Aumji, Shantnu ji Anupam ji and other sadhaks, Sometime back some good books on shakti were suggested by you and after searching a lot i could find these only in Rishikesh I have got shakti & shakta, serpent power by sir Arthur Avelone, selected wrirtings of Pt Gopinath Kaviraaj as recommended. Aumji had recommended Translation of Durga Saptshati By Swami Satyanand Sarswati. But i have gone through the complete list of publication and there is no such book being published by the publisher of Swamiji. Insted i was suggested by someone in Rishikesh to read Devi Mahatmaya by Swami Sivanda. Should i search for the book by swami satyanda ji on Durga furthermore or Devi Mahatmaya is equally good? as far as my quest for the real translation of Saptshati is concerned. Please guide as other books are not covering the subject but are highly informative on other aspects of Shakti. Thanks and regards so hum... Sohumji, it was me who suggested that book. The Swami Satyananda recommended is an American Swami, not the founder of Bihar School of Yoga. His website is: http://www.shreemaa.org He is a great Tantric, who spent 12 years in India as a wandering Sadhu, where he learnt Tantra, Shakti worship. If you cant find his books, another good translation is the one by Gita Press, though that is in Hindi, which I dont know if you can read. Other members may suggest other books. I also seriously recommend Dr David frawleys books, esp his book Tantric Yoga. His books are published by Motilal Banarsidass in India. All of his books are great, & give a great synthesis between Vedas, Tantra & Yoga. with love Shantnu

Geeta press books are very much accessible to me and if i could know the exact name/author,i can have privilege to get that. After reading Sir Arthur i will certainly go for David Frawleys. Dear fellow sadhaks, if you can also recommend some books on Shakti/ durga saptshati,i will be really obliged. Thanking once again, So hum... Guest guest
Dear Sohum, You may please check " DURGA SAPTASHATI " of GITA PRESS. It is Simple, Illustrative, Genuine & Not-too-expensive. Regards, Anupam

Dear Anupam & Shantnu sir, The traditional Durga Saptshati by Gita press you are referring here is in our home since ages. Right from my childhood i am chanting the verses from the book. But the explanation given in the book is not esoteric explanation and the major part is the story of Maa fighting with the demons . In this forum only few time back we had discussed about true nature of theese demons like: rakta beej, chanda munda, mahishasur, dhumra vilochan etc which was vey good.My quest is to read and understand whole of Saptshati in that context.Thats why i am looking for the translation of Saptshati. Regards, so hum...
Guest guest
Dear sohum, Shakti Ank by gitapress is perhaps the only book i could find which explains shakti well through various essays by great souls. this special annual number is limited and see if you can lay your hands upon. love Aum
Guest guest
Dear Sohum, Why not just read & know the " story " of DURGA SAPTASHATI for now; and let its esoteric essence reveal with Time...and its Underlying Meanings gets unfolded as a Natural byproduct of " Individual Sadhana " ? Such an UNDERSTANDING will be a " Personal Experience " rather than a Third person's Experience. Nevertheless, reading multiple authors speaking on the same subject is good :-) Regards, Anupam

Wish i could have personal " experience " and then i need not to hunt for the " understanding " . But that depends upon only on Maa to shower her Kripa. thanks for the inspiration, anupam, regards so hum...
