Respected members- namaste. I have a question. In older days the people

would bless or curse someone and thier words would come true. And we see

numerous such instances in our scriptures. And it wasnt just saints and

yogi's but even common peoples blessings or curses would come true.

Such as king Shantanu's or Rishi Shringi's. But this is not true of

words uttered by people these days. Why is that so? Can you explain?

Some thoughts on that question.

A lot of what we read about the ancient days is from the Puranic

tales, which are meant to be lessons to humanity. The lessons in many

cases were deeper the actual events being narrated - there was a

symbolism associated with them.

Another thought:

There is no such thing as the " Will of God " . A Will is only for those

creatures who can be denied. God's every tiny fleeting thought gets

materialized and comes true. As we come closer to God, our Will also

becomes more intune with the Paramathma's and what we wish starts in

small ways to come true (or we know what will happen). Similarly when

a truly pure (read realized) person has a thought - be it a blessing

or a curse, it comes true. Hence in the prior yugams, there were more

such 'pure' people. Their wishes could not be denied.

Corollary to the Second thought: A saint's curse is far better for

us, than all the blessings/gold/goodwill of an entire nation. Its

meant to rid us of our Karma's and Vasanas. We should be so blessed

that a saint curses us!

Aradhan your observation is right. I think this is due to the

purity of mind of people in olden days. There the blessings and

curses were due to dharma, not to satiate the personal ego. People

had high energies which worked with blessings etc.

Also another reason is Kaliyuga. The energy of Kaliyuga are so

dense of full of tam that it will not allow blessings to work...

also curses to bad souls will not work as kaliyuga wants that

sinners flourish in his era. .. LOL you and me know it better.

Aradhnaji, in ancient times, peoples intentions were stronger. their

minds were more foccused, & they did not say anything just to impress

anyone, they did not talk for talking sake. If a person said he would

do X, he had to do it. This was how society was.

When peoples minds were purer, they didnt have so many desires, they

only had intent. As such, even ordinary people like kings, when they

said anything, since their mind was focussed & their intent strong,

whatever they said had to occur.

We can do the same thing in Kaliyug if we focus our mind, dont lie &

honor every word we day. but it is hard, as aumji said, the whole flow

of Kaliyug is against us.

OMNAMONARAYANAYA

In olden golden days people lived strictly according to the dictates of

scriptures. They did not invent artificial " civilization. " . A woman had all the

powers like Sita and Draupadi . They had all the powers and performed all the

duties of a perfect daughter ,wife, mother or any other role.A Kshatriya fought

battles, ate rajahs food and lived the life of a king. A Brahman was a scholar

,taught Vedas ,Vedangas and performed priestly duties. All people lived at a

certain level of conscience.

In an earlier mail I tried to explain human and super humans living in circles

of different radii.

When the conduct was purely scriptural the word spoken by them -- a blessings or

curses had the SANCTITY(LEVEL) OF SCRIPTURES.

Now my behavior is not resembling even remotely the code of scriptures.

That makes all the difference.

Shantnuji simplified this by saying we are in Kaliyug.

Aumji,Jituji and other seniors can certaily improve upon this answer answers.

Thank you J.Swami ji. Shanracer , baba and Satish ji..all have

answered on similar lines

Shanracer your answer is convincing and logical- so you mean its

because of thier energies not being scattered and minds not being

directionless

Baba LOL you made me laugh with that comment :))

Baba ,SatishV ji and others- actually thats what I was wondering

about- I tell you what- That day I was watching a new Mahabharata by

Ekta Kapoor. In that I saw that there was a princess called Amba who

cursed Bhishma because he declined to marry her( being a celibate) when

she was spurned by her lover. The lover did that as he had some grudge

against Bhishma who had defeated the former in the princess' svayamwar.

So she was furious and put all the blame (illogically) of her plight on

Bhishma alone. So not just that - for something that she considered him

responsible- she cursed his entire kingdom and kula. And now here

nowhere her purpose or intent is meaningful , logical or just nor her

desire is pure rather its all a tamas reaction.Yet her curse worked. It

was only based on seeking vengeance for which she also worshipped Lord

Shiva..so thats also what I meant when I said that a curse or blessing

given by even common person would work..all this puzzles me! Also if

anyone says to another in scriptures- " I give you a share of my punya " -

it happens! I am not taliking of any symbolic stories but historical

ones

One explanation I recieved somewhere was - that it is the tapobal or

punya of someone that makes curses or blesings effective. When someone

gives blessings it is his punya a share of which is transferred to the

recipient and hence it acts as a blessing.Similarly ones tapobal

dimnishes immediately if he/ she curses anyone. So what you think?

LOL same question I asked many ppl including putting it on YA

yeah maybe it was thier dharma that worked. Now a days people are

mostly adharmi and nowhere dharmatmas/righteous are.Somewhere I think

I heard all in kali are mostly adharmi and if there is any good human

in him two there are two main virtues of dharma- speaking truth and

charity

Actually I dont know what kaliyug is.I mean I cant understand what

exactly it is- is it a time span or the negative energies of the people

occupying the Earth working or it is something else??

Are we in kalyug because we are less evolved souls and only that much

deserving or that we might even be pious but kali will still misdirect

us by luring us towards all bad that is happening around?

it might be a strange or silly ques but im curious

THANKS ARADHANA JI FOR BEAUTIFULL QUESTION AND THANKS TO ALL THE

ANSWERERS

SWAMIJI SIR JI THANKS for motivation

In my opinion that time energy was concentrated in words and today in

technical language i would say that " Energy is degraded in all

respects and instead of lying in words it lies in violance , ....

bombs , weapons , ......... "

Dear co-sadhakas,

Do you think that we lose our Punya or positive energies while

blessings or cursing others ? does that mean we should not bless

or curse ?

What is the mystery of blessings and curses, where do they get

energy from, to be effective?

They get their energeis from our Sadhna. So blessing or cursing others

" withdraws " our Sadhna energy from our Sadhna " saving account " . Hence

both should be avoided, till one has become Self Realised, & no longer

cares for personal energies, as one knows one can tap into the

universal system for more.
