On the way, the evil one found a pot full of gold coins, which he happily took & left the Guru. The good student, on the other hand, was bitten by a snake, & spent hours in agony while the could find a healer. The student asked, Guruji, why is this? Why did I suffer, & the bad student get rewarded? The Guru laughed & said, You cant see previous your lives, which is why this seems os confusing to you. The other student was destined to become a king in this life, but due to his evil karma, all that is left for his is a pot of gold. You were destined to die, but due to your good Karma you just suffered for a few hours. So Aumji, maybe you were also supposed to suffer more, but maybe due to your good act of returning the other mans phone, all that happened to you was your phone got stolen, & you suffered no serious harm.
