Om Sai Ram,

I found this article on the net..see if it helps.......

I am trying to relay the knowledge I got from other devotees, and my parayan

of

Sri Sai Satcharitra, Sri Sai Leela Amrutham, Sri Guru Charitra.

There are no hard and fast rules for Sri Sai Satcharitra and Sai

Leela,Amrutham parayan. (For Guru Charitra parayan there are strict rules

to be followed -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guru_charitra)

I will write down some preferred rules for satcharitra parayan here

(as I have seen many people asking similar questions in several forums).

1. Parayan should be started on a Thursday and 51 chapters are to be

divided as follows:

1st day - Thursday - Chapter 1 to 7

2nd day - Friday - Chap 8 - 15

3rd day - Saturday - Chap 16 - 22

4th day - Sunday - Chap 23 - 30

5th day - Monday - 31 - 36

6th day Tuesday - Chap 37 - 44

7th day - wednesday - Chap 45 - 51

2. Saibaba never demands anything from the devotees except for

Shradda and Saburi (you will learn about this very much in detail from

satcharitra). Start parayan with utmost devotion and faith in him....he will

guide

you through).

3. Make your Parayan place serene by cleaning up, lighting a lamp and

agarbatthi.

4. After the serene atmosphere is setup, offer some prasad to Sai (could be

a fruit, sweet or even a spoon of sugar will do at times). By the end of pooja

for the day, offer 2 rupees or 2 cents or 2 units of currency depicting your

shraddha and saburi and offer the camphor lamp to Sri Sai and do a Saashtanga

pranaam. (Prasad can be offered based on your financial and physical

capabilities....... anything offered with utmost devotion is the acceptable to

Sai)

5. By the end of all 7 days parayan, collect all the money you offered these

seven days....drop it in some temple's hundi, offer him some prasad.

(During parayan, feel Sai's presence within and around you)

Fasting is never advocated by Sai anytime...he never encouraged

anyone to be on fast (you will again learn this from one of the episodes in

satcharitra).

Please avoid Non-veg during the days of parayan (Sai did not put this

condition too, but its know fact that eating non-veg will emit different

body odour and might distract one's concentration). Never feel bad that you

could not do parayan though you were a devotee from a decade.......Sai will

decide the time for you to Visit Shiridi or do the parayan....Only on his order

you will be able to do these things. pls visit official website of Sri Sai

Sansthan, Shiridi ---

remove our problems and anxieties by giving us all - strength , goodluck,

success and happiness with peace of mind.
