Hari Om!

I am reminded of the Saint Arunagirinathar, who had been leading a licentious

life and condemned by his sister. Overcome by a sense of shame, he planned to

take his own life by falling from 'the vallala gandan gopuram' (pagoda) of the

famed Arunachaleshwar Temple, at Tiruvannamalai in Tamilnadu. As he fell, it is

said Lord Murugan or Subramanian took him on His arms and saved him. That turned

out to be a turning-point in his life. It opened up the flood-gate of piety and

devotion for Lord Murugan. A torrent of devotional hymns issued forth from him.

His hymns are known as " Thirupughazh " in Tamil and is known as a important

anthology of hymns in praise of Lord Murugan. A cursory reading of the songs,

will reveal that only a divine grace could have inspired such songs of immense

virtuosity.

In this case, as you said, the moment of upheaval in his life, when

Arunagirinathan, fell from the pagoda of the temple, must have opened up the

kundalini sakthi in him through the intervention of Lord Muruga. Lord Murugan is

after all the male personification of Sakthi.
