Guest guest
OM NAMO NARAYANAYA Dear truth seeking Sadhaks , For the last two days I have been reading posts from Aumji, Shantnuji, Sudhakarji,Ulaganathanji,Thimmappaji,Jayaji,Jigyasuji,Aroraji, Janfaraji et al as though I am addicted to Sadhana . God,Siddha,Yoga,Sadhana,Celibacy,Family, Maya and Path are the topics about which I seek your permission to post my views. My personal understanding with no strong basis in scriptures is here. A person is born new with God in him/her. The same God has to be understood and realised by us. Why different paths.Which is the correct method? How to know the correct method/path?Is`nt Ramanuja unfair leaving his wife? Why most of them discarded their wives without following Dharma? Should we run to Himalayas to meditate ?Why ? Why not? Are not yogis and Rishis different ?Is`nt the family a spiritually accepted institution? Does not have different plans for each of us ? etc ! Lovely, lively and juicy questions ! A new born child comes with God in it. Child suddenly gets ejected out from a fully air conditioned, warm, nourishing environment to a world where temperature humidity, light, sound , touch, vision and many things suddenly change. These changes force the child to adapt to the new atmosphere . This new atmosphere is colloquially called MAYA. Thus maya`s main work or task is to grossly ,suddenly and almost irreversibly increasing our interest in our body and sensuous indulgence.By the time the child becomes an adult Maya covers us totally . This covering is like a prison wall coverinng us from the truth ie God.Sankaracharya said " dukrunkarane " (our education, job pay and perks) do not protect us.Sankaracharya also said we like play as a child, and wife/husband as an adult with no time left for prayer, meditation and sadhana. Many like Ramanujacharya saw family as an obstacle for progress So they left that " wife " ..Or did they? Lord Sriram followed celibacy in forest while MAA Sita was right in front of Him. He followed celibacy also when Ma Sita was captured by Ravan and when she was pregnant with Kush and Lav.Brahmacharya /celibacy should be defined differently.Kunti and Madri did not have children through the king Pandu. Lord Krishna had eight consorts and 16000 Gopikas but is called ANADIBRAHMACHARY(eternal celibate) Ramakrishna Paramhams married Maa Sarada, lived in the same house with her and both were a perfect celibates..CELIBACY of the great was/ is/ will be with the FULL CONSENT of the spouse. Sadhana does help us in relising God but does not impose impossible conditions for ordinary mortals like me. For this any path or yoga is good.. Aumji already said this . Bhakti, Gjnana,Karma, yogas take us to Vairagya. Yama,Niyama are of collateral kelp. Food, clothing and shelter must be suitable for sadhaks. (my another doubt-- is not silk a non vegetarian fabric?) Yogi is one who can keep all his/her terrestrial desires under control. Sadhana helps us achieve that state. Siddhis come after prolonged ,dedicated sadhana . Siddhas have siddhis They can do things which for ordinary mortala like me look like miracles! How did Hanuman fly over the ocean? Siddhi is the explanation.. Ravan also had Siddhis but he put them to wrong use and perished. After perishing they realised the GOD in them. In fact i am so much reading and re-reading that there is backlog of my other e-mail for which i am not giving any justice. I don't want to disclose the number, it makes me feel very much ashamed of myself. Now what you have asked is so huge that atleast for me it will be tough so i will answer what i feel i am capable of or near to that. About 16,000 gopikas of lord krishna has esoteric meaning according to late Pandit GopiKrishna author of Kundalini. He has also founded Kundalini Yoga Foundation in Canada. The esoteric meaning is that it refers to nerves spreading from navel towards the rest of the body and does not mean, actual, so many wives. More correctly i think the figure 16,000 could be wrong and it should be 72,000/- if my memory serves me right. Further he says lord krishna was killed by hunter's poisonous arrow and the name of hunter was Zara which in sanskrit means old age. So krishna died of old age symbolically. Elsewhere in a different book of a different author i read that krishna was on a picnic with his wife on banks of river yamuna. There he had sex with his wife. Later during the evening she learnt that sage Durvas has come on the opposite side of river yamuna so she decided to visit him with sweetmeats but river suddenly came into flood and her journey was upheld at which she conveyed her displeasure to krishna who said no problem. He wrote on a piece of paper, IF I HAVE FOLLOWED LIFE OF CELIBACY THROUGHOUT MY LIFE PLEASE ALLOW RUKMINI TO PASS. He gave this note to her and told her to show it to river yamuna which she did and river parted the way and let her pass. On reaching opposite bank she worshipped sage Durvasa and offered sweetmeat which he gladly ate and then blessed rukmini who was very pleased, but as she rose to go again river was in spate and it became difficult for her to pass. She expressed her helplessness to the sage who asked her how she had come to which she showed the note krishna gave her. When he read he laughed and gave her another note saying, IF I HAVE FASTED THROUGHOUT MY LIFE PLEASE ALLOW RUKMINI TO PASS. Thus rukhmini reached backed to the shore and was very curious what was written on the note and when she read both the notes she was surprised because that day krishna had sex with her and same evening sage durvasa had eaten sweetmeats given by her so how could both have lied and yet river yamuna allowed her to pass. When she questioned krishna he had a hearty laugh but the said book offered no answer. My assumption is that(i may be wrong) whatever act krishna did in his human avatar he offered it to the Lord and therefore it amounted to not being bound by that act. Similarly sage durvasa use to do likewise. Recently sage Tukaram of Maharashtra has said in one of his ABHANGA (devotional sayings) NAAM GAYTA GRASSO GRASSI TOA JAVELA TARI UPVASI. It means one who takes lord's name in every mouthful of food he has fasted (actually upvasi though referred as fasting, true meaning is UP - means NEAR and VAS - means STAY - therefore staying near God is upvas). Thus - therefore Lord Krishna can be called as NITYA, AKANDA BRAHMACHARI. As you can see to answer your one query of Lord krishna so much explanation had to be given. I am sure rest of the sadaks will contribute their mite. As for me i am most happy in this Satsang that is taking place here. With warm wishes, Sudhakar HARI OM TAT SAT! Cheers! ) > OM NAMO NARAYANAYA > Dear truth seeking Sadhaks , For the last two days I have been reading posts from Aumji, Shantnuji, Sudhakarji,Ulaganathanji,Thimmappaji,Jayaji,Jigyasuji,Aroraji, Janfaraji et al as though I am addicted to Sadhana . > God,Siddha,Yoga,Sadhana,Celibacy,Family, Maya and Path are the topics about which I seek your permission to post my views. My personal understanding with no strong basis in scriptures is here. >

Of these, 16000 are main, the Gopis he dances with. These 16000 are the ones that help in Moksha. Of these 16000, only 3 are really important(Ida, Pingala & Suhsmna Nadis, or Rukmini, Satyabhama & Radha in the story) , & of the 3, only 1 actually reaches Krishna- Radha. Sushmna is hidden, so is Radha Krishnas hidden lover, but the ones he loves the most. At time of enlightenment, all 16000 Nadis feel bliss of God realisation, & each thinks God is with them only. But Krishna, the pure Spirit, is everywhere, so he is symbolically dancing with each of the 16000 Nadis, though each thinks she alone has Him. Krishnas death was not due to old age- symbolically or literally. Rather he died a violent death to show that even though He was God himself, he was accepting his own Law of Karma. He wasnt bound by it, yet he chose to follow it, as a guidance to others. with love Shantnu
Guest guest
Dear Swamiji, It is wonderful, the way you went on putting things in perspective.I often think that there are as many patways to reach God as there are individuals! Hence, the model is inside, one must look in, experiment and discover. The other/guru can only be a fecilitator and guide in the light of the disciple's discovery of oneself and, ofcourse, that role of a guru is indeed great. Guru may even help in that discovery of light within, but wish not impose his own! Different Rishis, Different Acharyas, Ashtavakra, Meera, Kabir, Dayananda Saraswati, Surdas, Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, Aurobindo, Ramana, Nisargadatta, J.Krishnamurthy(JK), U.G.Krishnamurthy(UGK), Mahesh Yogi, Mata(Amma), Ravishankar, Ramdev and so on, each having their own pathways discovered 'on their own', relating to Ancient and yet variant too. Hence, marriage or no marriage,Himalayas or crowded city, divinity can surface as IT is inspite and despite all that! Look within, the 'method'/light emerges and march on with the help of guru,- may be the song to sing! Guest guest
Dear Shantnuji, This is simply great, I am spell bound, dumbfounded, to see the interpretation that I had never heard of. It is so telling. Thanks. Regards, M.S.Thimmappa. , shanracer <no_reply wrote: > Sudhakarji, the symbology is: > > Krishna has 72000 wives, which are the 72000 Nadis.
