Masroor Temple

Aumji,

Masroor temple is situated in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

The exact location is around 32 kilometers from Kangra town

on " nagrota surian " road. This is a link road. The location can also

be reached from Dharamsala and its around 22 k.m. The temple is a

fine stone craft art. It is richly carved and in the form of 16 rock

cut style in indo aryan kind. Main shrine contains stone idols of

Rama, Lakshaman and Sita. But there is a shiv-linga too and it is

said that the main temple is originally of Shiva only. The temple is

unique in the sense that no where in Himachal we find such stone

carved temple.Temple is supposed to have been built in 8th century.

unlike most of hindu temple it is unique as it resemble combodian

type of temples.

Thanks dear for the information. Yes it is for the uniquieness of the

temple i wish to see it. I am trying to avoid the rush of festivals

during monsoon there... and will soon visit after it is calm and

lonely.
