Guest guest
Babaji,Shantnuji Sudhakarji,Thimmappaji, and All sadhaks , I know my father used to offer food cooked for lunch as NIVEDAN to family deity before we ate it. But I have not seen him offering cooked dinner as NIVEDAN. I have seen one American family related to us offering dinner as NIVEDAN . Is this done only to impress me or any other family does it ? Please clarify yours devotedly ~SWAMY http://gjnanaswarup.spaces.live.com/blog/

Yes, here at our place i know lot of families including mine, offer cooked food ( a Full Meal like that of Lunch ) on FULL MOON day to the moon and deity as Nivedan and then we take our dinner ( a full meal ). Also the same is done on Thiruvathirai Nakshatra day as well ( Mangalya day - the day all married women pray god for their husbands welfare ), the entire family fasts / eat something fresh in little during day time, and at night a full meal cooked is offered as nivedan, worshiped and the whole family has their dinner. As far as i know both during day as well as at night, cooked food is offered as NIVEDYAM, specially on full moon days. It is said on full moon days healing rays of the moon influences all the food particles, to bestow good health. Further once in a year i.e. on SHARAD POORNIMA we offer cooked food but mainly DOODHPAK enriched with almonds, raisins, saffron, etc., is kept exposed to the moon for atleast 3 hours. It is said, this one act, acts like an insurance for the whole year in enjoying good health. The custom could get improvised depending upon where you reside and also what the local priest prescribes?
