Guest guest
Now a days spiritual gurus are mushrooming all around, each boasting of his genuinity. Many people thus waste precious years with fake gurus. Is there a way to find out how to recognise a truely spiritual guru, who is really interested in our spiritual upliftment but not our wealth? Guru finds you and not other way round. When the chela(disciple) is ready, Guru appears. But that does not mean you should sulk and be worried. You have to keep trying. Ofcourse there are criteria's to understand or recognise a true spiritual master. 1. He never charges a single copper coin for his initiation. Nor in future he ever asks you to donate your wealth. 2. Spiritual master are always self sufficient. As guru Nanak (i think) said, those who say, BHIKSHAN DEHI don't know the path. Look at all true masters. a. Guru Nanak was a FARMER. b. Kabir was a WEAVER. c. Tukaram was a GROCER. d. Namdev was a DYER. e. Gora was a POTTER. f. Ravidas was a COBBLER. g. Jessus Christ was a CARPENTER so on and so forth. The list is endless. YOU GET THE DRIFT? 3. He never criticizes others path. 4. He only talks mainly that this is not your TRUE HOME, you are a spiritual being having human experience, so lets make arrangements to get away from this MISERY. Ofcourse there are some saints who visit a jail of this Sansar, and offers blankets to the inmates of the jail, another saints provides cooler during summer to enjoy cold water, and then comes another true master, he does not offer you blankets/cooler etc., etc., instead he gives individually KEY to break open from the shackles of the prison but the stupid prisoner is so attached to his shackles (mayavi sansar) that though he understands yet refuses to break free. For your information Jesus Christ said, I come not to save the world, I come for marked souls. Yet majority of his followers due to heavy propaganda think and follow Christ hoping he will save them. In this context the book POWERS OF POSITIVE THINKING by Mr. Murphy says that some of the help you experience is your own subconscious mind helping you. THINK ABOUT IT LONG ENOUGH AND IT WILL COME TO YOU. Also WHAT YOU RESISTS PERSISTS. So getting to the true path is a hassle but all your efforts will never go to waste. It has to bear fruit, if not now, then in next birth. HOW MUCH BURNING DESIRE YOU HAVE ACCORDINGLY YOU MOVE UP THE LADDER. It is not saying, i have a true burning desire etc., etc., - remember all this should be from within. Hope this much is sufficient to give you hint to search for a True Living Master not the dead one - no matter how great he/she was. With warm wishes, Sudhakar HARI OM TAT SAT! Guest guest
Dear Jayaji, I am elucidating some points, thats coming to my mind randomly... - Meeting our SADGURU who is meant for us will definitely give a feeling " OH LORD! THIS IS ALL THAT I WAS SEARCHING FOR ALL THIS TIME " . Many have felt so. - A SADGURU does not refer to SHASTRAS coz he/she LIVES it. Thus, a SADGURU doesn't have to see the books to address to any topic. - Even if a SADGURU is known to us, he/she may not be the one for us. Yet in that case we can surely learn what we can from him/her and move on... - Although SADGURU does not open books to address ANY topic, yet its is commonly said that a GURU must be " Shrotriya " ...has read and practiced the SHASTRAS. - Finally, if the " Thirst " is " Extreme " , the Nature always gifts us with someone to act a GUIDE. Its an inevitable law of Nature. - In case its a strong continuation of the Sadhanatmak Path of past lives, the SADGURU finds us anyway. - To begin with, Books of Enlightened Souls can act as a nice guide towards the path; however, with one risk...coz we start equating our own lives with the ones we read and our expectations could enter a fantasy realm and failing which might make us disheartened. FINALLY, I have heard that praying to " LORD SHIVA " can show way towards the GURU who is meant for us, coz HE is the " AADI GURU " . THIS MUST BE TRIED. Hypocrites will find a hypocrite Guru, honest people will find an honest Guru. If you have been cheated by a dishonest Guru- look inside, you have the same character flaw. The fact there are so many dishonest Gurus is because there are so many dishonest people. This is not what people want to hear, especially in the West where there is a " blame " culture- everything bad is someone elses fault. However, there is a big danger of having a mental idea of what a Guru should be, & searching for a Guru with that. The mental idea is someone who is very poor, can quote scriptures, is a sanyaasi, or any other ideas. So if you want a good guru- raise your own level first. Nowdays there are hundreds of books on meditation, shastras, commentaries- one needs no excuse not to start meditating. Later on, when we are ready, the Guru will appear, if Ma Shakti thinks we cannot progress further without one. with love Shantnu
Guest guest
Dear Jayaji, True guru: 1.Whose company he is with or prefers most of the time, rich and wealthy or poor, disadvantaged and diseased? Latter is the true guru, the former, not! Christ, Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Vinoba tendered sick and the poor including animals. Krishna's best friend was Sudhama who wore torn clothe and had only a morsel of beaten rice to offer! 2.Does he make us more and more self reliant or make us dependent on him so that for every tiny problem we rush for guidance. Former is the guru, the latter, not! 3.Every time we visit him we feel more strong within, more peaceful. He is a guru. If we feel more and more insecure/unsettled that disturbs our life setting, he is a fake! No? Guest guest
Every Guru is a true Master. It takes a lot of hardwork and continous discipline, perseverance to become a Guru. it is either you're or not. A paragon had never existed and will never exist. Every human Guru have their own weaknesses and that should not be looked upon to construe that they're False Guru. Guru are human being and subject to weaknesses and error they're not Angel. Dear Anupamji,Thanks for your soulful remarks!Best wishes and
Guest guest
Well Mr.Davies, As you said rightly, " it is either you're or not " . When we say about a TRUE GURU as, weak or strong, right or wrong, just or unjust, righteous or immoral, its like trying to - UNDERSTAND THE COLOUR OF THE " SUN " , WITHOUT MIXING THE SEVEN COLOURS THAT WE ARE GIVEN IN HAND - VIOLET, INDIGO, BLUE, GREEN, YELLOW, ORANGE & RED. Lets simply presume that we are not allowed to mix them. How shall we determine the colour of the SUN? This World is in the plane of DUALITY (say, the seven colours). When they are MIXED together 'within us', the SUN rises 'within' and its TRUE colour is revealed 'within'. A GURU is someone who has 'mixed' these colours 'within' ownself and is capable & willing to guiding others through the same 'process'. Its just a metaphor, anyway. In the external world, the actions are bound to be in the form of DUALITY (thus, imperfect and comparable). However, ONE who has ACHIEVED INNER PERFECTION (NON-DUALITY, UNIVERSAL EXPANSION, SUPER CONSCIOUSNESS....Whatever we name that State of NAMELESSNESS), their actions are always meaningful, if understood, and with the sole aim to inspire & guide other souls towards the same path; No matter whether it fits into our intellectual reasoning or not. Actually most of the time it may not rationally. Regards, Anupam , " mohammed. A. Davies " <ma_davies44 wrote: > > Every Guru is a true Master.
