Guest guest
Dear Sadhakas I would like to ask a question about nadi shodhan. I have always practiced this pranayam very comfortably, but a friend of mine has said it is important to close the nostrils in a certain way. I have always closed them by simply pressing gently with my thumb & 4th finger (or 'ring finger' as some people call it.) She has said that it is important to use the very tips of the fingers & not the pad of the fingers as I do. But would it really make any difference which part of the finger you use, as long as you are closing them? I cant see how it would matter at all... With love Farah

In Nadi shodhan, it is not the way we press the nostrils, but what is important is regulate both outgoing and incoming breath in tune. When both the prana are attuned, the nadis get purified. love aum

As Aumji said regulation is important, but then what your friend was trying to say is that ENERGY GOES OUT THROUGH THE TIP OF OUR FINGERS therefore placing tip rather than pads is advantageous to a very minor degree correct. Ask her what about the nails on the fingers. They should be scruplously cut otherwise you could end in hurting yourself. Frankly the energy coming out of the fingers would still fall on the nose and there is actually no loss so please continue as you were doing. With warm wishes, Sudhakar HARI OM TAT SAT!
