Question- 24 precaustions in Yoga

HARE KRISHNA ,HARE RAMA

 

Yoga is dangerous too ,if not done properly

 

so please could you share whaty precautions we should take in case

various cases

 

1.esp what kind of posture/aasans is helpfull for all kind of yoga

2. food

3. sleep ( day time sleep is dangerous for a yogic person if you think

yes than please share your experience like yeasterday i slept in day

in sunshine , than i faced with severe headache in the evening .)

Jitendarji, there is little danger in Yoga, unless you are doing

advanced asans only by reading from book(not guru).

Surya Namaskar is highly recommended. A better solution is to jion a

Yoga class- they will provide overall balanced excercise.

Food should be Sattvic, vegetarian, fresh.

Daytime sleep is not recommended, but there is on hard & fast rule for it.

2. Food should be satwik. Many identify satwik food such as green

mung, rice milk etc., I like what my yoga teacher Dr. Swami

Gitananda of Ananda Ashram, Pondicherry, said, instead of analysing

which is tamasic, rajasic and satwik, remember anything cooked is

not satwik. So what the hell we are suppose to eat. Dr. Swami

Gitananda was a medical doctor as well as spiritual head.

 

Well our trikal gyani rishis were fruitarians (exception to the

rule is always there and no arguments there please).

 

So most ideal would be citrus fruits in the morning, freshly

cut vegetables as salads accompanied by soaked nuts in the

afternoon. Evening supper could be sweet fruits like banana

dagtes, figs and raisins.

 

Ofcourse the above is too ideal diet and does not fall into the

realms of layman so a comporomise of sort is:-

Breakfast: steamed idlis cooked in steel vessels or in jackfruit

leaves along wigth coconut chutney and sambar.

Lunch: Dry whole wheat chappatis along with steamed curry of

cauliflower/cabbage/beetroot to which turmeric powder is added.

Supper: Red boiled rice congi i.e. rice gruel in which the water

is retained not thrown away as is done in the preparation of rice.

This water is full of vitamin B complex, accompanied by steamed

vegetable like cowpea, snakegourd, ridgegourd or anyother seasonal

vegetable. Alternatively you could also just eat tender coconut

by first drinking the sweet water and the soft meat can be crushed

along with banana and honey. In southern part of India and also in

Mumbai you can get this treat which is truly nutrious and healthy.

GOD'S NECTAR ON EARTH.

 

While sleeping during daytime is wrong there is no harm or rather

necessity to do VAMKUKSHI i.e. to lie down on your left side to

activate your right nostril so that whatever you have eaten at

lunch can be assisted in proper digestion.

BECAUSE AASAN IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT , I OBSEVERD IN SADHANA
