Guest guest
A few of the points which are important are, Not politicizing the matter. I don't know why but if some thing related to Hinduism is initiated there will be a lot of fuss around. But things of other religion will be going around freely. For example the mail received about reviving the temple.Doing something with a perfect plan and forethought. Lot of such things if not TV channels have been initiated earlier, but with time they will vanish - maybe lack of funds, resources or the enthusiasm which was present during initiation. We could also think about collaborating with the lot of Hindu groups around like ISCKON, Chinmaya mission etc. It may be true that there is a gradient of philosophies. Like some do not like the cultures of other groups. But atleast till the problems of Hinduism are solved, we must unite.I know this would rise controversies, yet I feel it to be important. We could plan in such a way that our channel generates funds for itself so that it need not always depend on funds which are once again not guaranteed always. Further, if successful, these funds could be sources for other things. One of the misconception is, " philosophy is for the old and not for youngsters " . Many feel humiliated to attend religious festivals. Steps must be taken to motivate younger people right from the cause to begin the channel.Regards Harsha. s gangasewak1 <gangasewak1 Tuesday, 29 January, 2008 8:52:35 AM How we can generate resources for GangaTV ? Guest guest
>Harshaji, how do you think we can do this? What is best way to appeal >to younger generation? One of the most important factor is, we need to motivate by showing that the philosophy and science are not different but ways of looking at the same perspective. I have one very motivating example. A Japanese scientist Masaru Emoto conducted an experiment. In the first case, he kept a container of water in a place and kept on talking motivational things in front of it daily. In the second case, he used abusive words and in the third one was normal. After many days, he froze all the three containers and studied the crystallographic structure of all the three, the first one had very beautiful patterns, the second one had very unappealing ones and the third ones as usual. This shows that philosophy and science are not a different. For this thing we need not go till Japan. This thing was demonstrated by J.C. Bose long ago. He used three plants of the same kind and kept on praising one, abusing the other and the third one was normal. Once again there was a gradient in development. His purpose was to demonstrate that plants had life. What our philosophy says is not different. We must stress upon such examples and instead of the monotonous speeches where one philosopher is listening and the remaining thousands are listening. For example, in one of the christian sermon, children were asked to write their wishes to god on a slip of paper. Later on explained the concept of god. One most important point is, we really cannot expect the so called modernized youth to at once become traditional. The essence of tradition must me inserted in the tender ages. For example these Chinmaya mission schools conduct quizes on our heritage and culture. Such things must be encouraged. I remember a lesson from my school days where a person insults sai baba by asking him to bless him with a pumpkin instead of the holy ashes baba gives miraculously. I really don't understand why such lessons are included. In the other point there were lessons about jesus, prophet mohammed mother terasa and so on. This is really weird. If the text book preparer is and atheist, things should be against all religions and not against Hinduism. This clearly shows the slow poison injected into our culture and heritage by the western society. This was one of the point I stressed in my previous mail. If these things are politicized, a new point to argue in the parliament would arise and there would be no betterment in the problem. These things should not be looked from the political perspective but, changes should be brought.
