Guest guest
Just like the HOLY NAMES - HARE KRISHNA- HARE RAM purify our soul similarly the prayanam process of controlling the breath purifies our body & mind & senses. When the mind becomes focused & purified through the long practice of prayanam-then it can be engaged 24 hours a day in the service of Lord. The by-products of prayanam are - very sound & healthy body & mind. I understand that prayanam purifies the mind of all its impurities but it surely cannot invoke Love of Krishna unless it is accompanied with hearing & chanting of the holy names. Thus Hearing & Chanting ( Mahamantra) is a Spiritual process whereas Prayanam & yoga are a material process. In this age when air, water, food etc everything is contaminated prayanam will not yield any great results. Also the life of human being today is also very short. Thus the best method of attaining Krishna is through Hearing & Chanting of HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE/ HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE. It can at the most make our body healthy. Merry Christmas everyone! Anusuyaji, Pranayam is a part of Patanjalis Ashtanga or 8 step Yoga. Yoga aims to directly contact the Spirit through control of the mind. When all waves of disturbance on mind become silent, we can see our Pure Self-Brahm, Atman, & achieve enlightenment. But controlling the mind is very difficult, so Yogis recommend 1st controlling the body through Asans, and Pran through Pranayam. The whole purpose of Pranayam is to bring Pran under control. Since Pran is related to mind, this means it also comes under control by default. The mind is very hard to control, as it is by nature always in movement. It is also subtle, & so cannot be observed directly. Pran is also subtle, but is in closely related to breath, which can be controlled as it is gross. Pranayam is a method to control subtle & hidden things(mind & pran) via a gross & easily felt thing(breath). Mantra is also a kind of Pranayam- thats why Vedic mantras( & others too) have to be chanted in a certain tone. This has the effect of Pranayam, & gives added bonus of making the Istha Devta of the Mantra happy. Many Yogis recommend we do Pranayam with some mantra. This is doubly powerful. Hatha Yoga is also a way of controlling Pran( & not just getting pretty bodies as many people think nowdays). But Hatha works with the whole body. But Hatha Yoga is useless unless it is done with breath control. An Asan, no matter how technically perfect, is useless unless it is directed by the breath or Pran. The ultimate goal is to control Pran, & hence bring mind under control. love Shantnu

Guest guest
, " jitendra kumar " <jtin_ja wrote: > Dear Jitendra Kumar, Namaste! Controlling spiritual energy gone wrong way is " NO JOKE " . It is the price one has to pay for daring to risk chanting of AUM or Gayathri Mantra or trying to awaken Kundalini Shakti without the guidance of a GURU. Also our EGO plays a major part in this mishap. Usually 99.9% all who take to spiritual path is for fame and fortune and not for spiritual path per se (EXCEPTIONS TO THE RULE IS OFCOURSE ALWAYS THERE). In Jan. 2008 issue of a magazine called SPIRITUAL LINK it is stated. IN ORDER TO BECOME ONE WIH THE LORD WE NEED TO LOSE OUR SENSE OF SELF. LET GO OF THE EGO. IF WE LOOK AT EGO AS AN ACRONYM, IT HAS BEEN DEFINED AS " Edging God Out " . SO TRUE! EVERYTIME WE SPEAK OR ACT FROM A SENSE OF SELF, WE ARE NOT ACKNOWLEDGING GOD, THEREFORE WE'RE EDGING HIM OUT. THERE IS A SIMPLE RELATIONSHIP THAT DEALS WITH THE SAME DEFINITION: IF THERE IS EGO, THERE IS NO GOD. WE JUST NEED TO LET GO OF THE EGO. Basically mind needs to be controlled and this can be done very easily if you control your intake of food. Father of modern allopathy, Hippocrates truly said, LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE AND MEDICINE THY FOOD. Ofcourse it is another matter, hardly few doctors have heard of this saying and those who have heard rarely practise or preach anything from this saying. Ultimately your mind is formed as per your consumption of food. In marathi language there is a saying: AANN TAARTHEHI AANNI MAARTHEHI i.e. Food saves you and kills you also. So what food should be consumed. Tell me Jeethu Bhai in your own circle can you name one single person who doesn't consume, tea, coffee, cigarettes, liquor, non-vegetarian food, extra marital sex, takes cold water bath, eats only satwik food. No matter what ultimately unfired/uncooked food is the natural food of human being. In sea from amoeba to whale and on land from ant to an elephant does anyubody cook? NO! then why should human beings cook. For more details visit www.fruitarian.com For success is mantra chanting food plays the most important part. The person you are referring to has deranged his VAYU resulting in VAYU KAUPA i.e. enraged vayu which has resulted in loose control over his motion. He definitely needs to detox completely not at home, but in a good naturopathy centre and then introduce live food in his body. It is also important when doing all spiritual exercise CELIBACY is observed. In SHIV SAMHITA it is said, Maranam bindu patein, Jeevanam bindu dharaneth. In short celibacy is LIFE, sensuality is DEATH. Here Bindu means semen which should be preserved. In Tao of Sex it is mentioned that the KING should not be dropped till 1000 shots have been fired. Here king means semen. So you see again we need help of a living master to guide us. Doing it on your own is fraught with danger. By the way Pandit Gopi Krishna author of KUNDALINI also suffered due to kundalini going the wrong way. USUALLY KUNDALINI RISE SHOULD TAKE PLACE WHEN SUSHUMNA NADI IS OPEN. IF IDA OR PINGALA ARE OPEN WHEN KUNDALINI RISES ONE SUFFERS DRASTICALLY. Again continuing with celibacy - it should be remembered that food contributes towards following celibacy and support of the living master. Lastly horoscopic placing of the planets also contribute towards success in mantra chanting. I hope this will wet your appetite to take spiritual path with caution. In fact, with the exception of a few Tantric mantras(which are secret anyway) all mantras can be chanted safely. The only danger is when you are chanting mantras for Siddhis, when you have to be careful, as even a small mistake may destroy you. But this is because most Siddhi mantras are for lower Devtas/Rakshas, who are not happy that people should master their secrets easily. Om/Gayatri or any other Sattvic mantra chanted for Moksha only has no risk. Dont let anyone tell you otherwise. love Shantnu

Guest guest
, " jitendra kumar " <jtin_ja wrote: > Dear Jitendra Kumar, Namaste! I am glad your friend realised food was the cause. Majority just cannot accept food as the cause. Once you realise this the problem is solved. Ayurveda has categorised human beings into 7 categories. 1. Vata 2. Pitta 3. Kapha 4. Vata-pitta 5. Vata-kapha 6.Pitta-kapha and 7.Vata/pitta/kapha. For more details you must read the book ayurvedic consitution by Dr. Robert E. Svoboda. If you want indian author go for Dr. Lad's book on ayurveda. Usually from the time of birth till age 25 we suffer from kapha problems. From 26 till 50 from pitta(pitha) problems and from 51 till we die we suffer from vata related problems. In Charak Samhita it is said, there is no pain without vayu, no swelling without pitha and no pus without kapha. To get rid of vayu kaupa i.e. deranged vayu one must preferably eat fresh warm food, end the meal after consuming fennel seeds (Badi shep). Also before starting the meals consume fresh ginger to which powdered rock salt is added and a twist of fresh lime juice. Lastly after eveery meal one should preferably sit for only 5 minutes in VAJRASANA holding VAYU MUDRA which is simply done with both the hands by folding forefinger to touch the base of the thumb. Then press the thumb lightly onto the index finger. The other 3 fingers should be extended and relaxed and kept on respective thighs. Whenever you eat food it should be conscious eating. Avoid talking/arguing/fighting/watching tv while eating. Chewing food is the ultimate missile to check vayu kaupa (derangement) Sorry i do not know any link on this. About spiritual problems or spiritual diseases visit www.treeoflife.nu managed by Dr. Gabriel Cousens M.D. To the healing and spiritual awakening process, he brings a background as a holistic physician, homeopathic physician, Diplomat in Ayurveda, psychiatrist, family therapist, live food nutritionist etc., etc., amongst his books spiritual nutrition is a classic and a must read for you. Regarding pandit Gopi Krishna all i know is he founded Kundalini Research Centre in Canada. Sorry i cannot throw more light on this. Cold water bath should be started in summer. The bath consist in rubbing your whole body with a coarse khadi cloth or a brush or your bare hands. More about it you should read the book, Reveal your Glow by Donna Rae published by Pustak Mahal Delhi. Alternatively it is also available at amazon.com. I guess i have covered practically everything you have asked but if you feel you have more questions to ask please do not hesitate to inquire. With warm wishes, Sudhakar HARI OM TAT SAT! Guest guest
, " jitendra kumar " <jtin_ja Dear Jitendra Kumar, Namaste! I agree that the format they have given of consuming different fruits every two hours is rather impractical and expensive also but needed since fruits gets digested and absorbed faster making you hungry again and again. There is a hindi book by the name SWADISTH PRAKRUTIK VYANJAN by Dr. Nanda Kishore Sharma and Dr. Savita Sharma, published by Daulatram Prakrutik Chikitsa kendra, 16/849, Joshi Road, Karol Bagh, Newl Delhi-5. This you should buy it and benefit immensely from it. Herebelow i mention a diet as stated in the said book. Morning at 6 a.m. any fruit or vegetable juice. Breakfast 8 a.m. seasonal citrus fruit of one or two varieties. e.g. 3 oranges and 1/4 piece of pineapple or 250 gms of pine apple slices. Lunch around 12.00/1.00 p.m.:- 3 or 4 varieties of vegetables thoroughly washed in hot salted water and then rinsed in boiled cooled water. 2(two) ounce of almonds which has been soaked in water for minimum of 3 hours, plus sprouted green mung or tender coconut. Evening 4 p.m. :- Any fruit or fruit juice or alternatively green tea. Supper 7 p.m. :- Sweet fruits only e.g. 3 bananas and 3 chikoos (sapotas) or 3 bananas and 3 mangoes with soaked figs and raisins (raisins should not be seedless which please note) for a minimum of 3 hours. If you want to eat water melon Dr. Herbert m Shelton in his book - FOOD COMBINING MADE EASY states Melons should be eaten ALONE but since it is diuretic i suggest it is better to be consumed by 7 p.m. along with fistful of cashewnuts to bypass hunger pangs as melons are faster digested. Experiment a little bit and see what suits you better as we all are individuals with varied metabolism. A chinese doctor by the name of Dr. Mao in HEALTH has echoed the words of our rishis by stating quantity of food consumed should not be more than 2 palmful. Trust this will satisfy your hunger for natural diet. With warm wishes. Sudhakar HARI OM TAT SAT!
