Guest guest
Its a bit sad, but many Indians seem to have a very negative opinion of ISKON, as do many westerners. Both see it as a 'cult' - intent on brainwashing its followers. Personally, for the longest time, I was under the same impression. I saw it as a fringe movement with little merit at best. At worst, I saw it as a cult of hippies, smoking hash. However, when I recently went to an ISKON temple, I found it to be a place of peace. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the priest was very warm and welcoming. Reading about Prabhupada's life was inspirational as well. The most common complaint has been that they try to 'force' you to meditate/pray more. I can't say thats a bad thing. Just curious if anyone else in this group ever had/has similar reservations? I know there are a couple of you that are actively involved with ISKON, I wanted to know if you've ever come up against this prejudice?
