To do purascharan of Gayathri mantra which consist of 24 syllabus therefore one has to do 24 lakhs time chanting of the mantra. Once you start you may increase the number but should not decrease it as far as possible. Then taking bath is compulsory. The direction should be East. Asana should be of Darba or Kusa grass on which you should spread woolen mat and over this spread a cotton mat and then seeking permission of all Devi, Devatas, also gram devatas i.e. local deity where you are residing are to be taken. Then you draw a fence round your mat with a chalk chanting nirvignamastu so no evil entities can enter that area and disturb your sadhana. Then starts nyaas which is awakening each body part wherein resides the particular deity. This is simply done by touching that body part with your right hand and saying a particular mantra (i am sorry i don't remember what the mantra is which ofcourse any priest in the temple worth his salt will guide you but please do give him some dakshina for imparting the knowledge of nyaas mantra). It is quite laborious until you get a hang of it and believe me you will always find some vignas (obstacles) preventing you from doing the purascharan of the Gayathri mantra. It is safer to do one single mala daily or if you have time 10 malas would be ideal. This is all that i know of. Hope this satisfies your curiosity. I am sorry i cannot help further than this. Guest guest
> Could you please tell us about nyaass. What does it mean and how it Nyas is a complicated, time consuming ritual whereby one invites various Devas/Devis into ones body, before starting Puja. The Devas/Devis add their power to your Sadhna. Nyas isnt necessary for most Sadhnas. The Durga Saptashati usually gives some version of Nyas.

It seems to be very tedious. I am afraid that this all is possible in this Kaliyug and living in the world with going to office, caring for family etc. So, as you said in the end, it is better to do one/two mala daily upto 24 lakh japs. Will that have same results ?? Jai Gurudev

What i told was a practical solution unlike 20/30 malas is not within everyone's grasp. But persistence always pays and one must try to see that this small investment is never missed no matter what. Ofcourse our prarabd karma ( the one with which we have come) can sometimes withhold the benefit but for a short duration till they get cleared with regular chanting and there is no way we can know that and therefore continuity is most important. But in Kaliyuga many have no patience and then one grumbles this doesn't work. It has been rightly said, Patience is a virtue, virtue is a grace and two together form a beautiful face. But have you seen many sadhaks have grouchy face. I am not ready to accept any excuse and i am not talking about handsomeness or beauty i am talking about Prasannatha and that requires HEAP OF PATIENCE. Mein kuch jaada to nahin bhola?
