Durgas has 9 forms. These forms are her different stages as she

manifests in the world & each represents something symbolic:

1. The 1st is Shailputri, the daughter of the mountain. The mountain

is a symbol of our conciousness, with different peaks. She takes birth

in the stone & rock, or the hard core of unconscious matter.

2. At the same time, Durga is also Brahmacharini, the power of Brahma.

According to Sri Aurobindos research on the Vedas, Brahman is the

Power of the the Word(AUM & other mantras), & he creates everything by

the power of this Word. So Brahmcharini 1st creates the universe by

the Word, then enters the same Universe at its lowest stage- hard rock

like unconciouss stage(as Shailputri).

3. She is also the Nada(beautiful sound) that spreads the delight of

existence, & the power of Mantra, as Chandraghanta.

4. She is not merely delight in the heavens, she is also the power of

Tapas, that is born in Earth(physical universe), as Kushumnda.

5. She is also Skandamata, Mother of Skanda. Skanda is the portion of

Divine Energy that descends to Earth to uplift it. Skandmata is the

Shakti that gives birth & nourishes this Divine Power.

6. Inspite of this, she is the Ever pure one, the Eternal Virgin,

Katyani. She is a virgin, as she is always a subject, never an object

that can be enjoyed by others. (This relates to pure awareness stage,

where only the Self remains, & all the objective world vanishes. Only

here can Katyani be felt).

7. She is Kalratri, the dark night of ignorance, who carries many

bright possibilities in her.

8. But she is also Mahagauri, the great radiance, the bright day of

wisdom & knowledge.

9. Finally she is Siddhiatri- she who gives perfection. Siddhi here

doesnt mean somw low level Siddhi, but the final perfection, that

gives you full Enlightenment.

Combined, these 9 forms are DURGA.

Dear Aum,

Namaste!

Have you seen a bee sucking honey from a flower. It just keeps

on sucking oblivious to what is happening around. As far as I

am concerned that is what i am doing at the moment. All that you

and others that are dishing out i am savouring it and khane ke

vakt bholte nahin sirf kahte hain! Right! so let me enjoy maybe it

is selfish on my part but if everything is fair in love and war &

i am in love with devi so this is fair. Cheers! :o)
