Guest guest
Long back I heard a cassette of Osho on Shilinga but I am unable to recollect. Osho explained it so beautifully. I will post it if I could recollect that.. I will request the members if somebody has heard that one or read that chapter, pleae post it. In fact, all the forms (Shivlinga, photos, statues) have hidden meanings. Once my guruji explained the meaning of photo of Shiva. Some features i am giving below:- 1. Bhabhut(Ash) on Shiva's body denotes Vairagya 2. Snakes around His neck denote the materialistic things which are always ready to bit us. 3. Trishul (Tident) denotes the three gunas (Sat, Raj & Tamas) - We have to have control over them and use them as our weapon 4. Damru denotes the frequency of Pran - If we can control Pran we take a step further to become Shiva Jai Gurudev
Guest guest
Thanks shanracer and branko for wonderful explanation. Here are my 2 cents Many ignorants translate " Linga " as penis which is Wrong and this myth is spread mainly by missionaries The Linga has different meanings - shapeless, without organs, long drum like, etc penis is called linga by some people due to its shape...the actual world for penis is " Shishna " Shiva Linga here means, Shiva without form... it is like when we die our soul is called " Linga Sharira " now we never mean that after death we become Penis ?? Shiva being worshipped as Linga means the Consciousness in its primodal form...where Consciousness is entering into the Eternal Energy (Shakti). Thus shivalinga is the state of god, just before the manifestation of Universe, a little before big bang. Shakti at that stage is called Yoni, because Shakti works as a recepient of the consciousness and keeping Shiva in her womb...manifests as universe. This is not actually a penis and vagina, but a symbolic way to tell how it happens. Shiva is worshipped as Linga...because that is the highest of all manifested gods, formless, attributeless.... simple Consciousness manifesting through Energy (shiva and shakti) AUM
