Guest guest
Dear Sadhaks : After the holy celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, today , we are celebrating Vinayaka Chaturthi ! Om Shri Ganeshaya Namaha ! Om Gam ganapathaye namaha ! Gam is the Beeja aksharah for Lord Ganesha ! Today , it is my pleasure to share an interesting anecdote about Lord Ganesha . Why does the elephant faced Lord Hanesha have such huge ears ? There ia an esoteric meaning attached to this - Lord Ganesha with his large ears knows how to do 'selective' listening! Lord Ganesha knows how to separate the 'wheat' from the 'chaff! DIFFERENT TYPES OF DEVOTEES PRAY FOR DIFFERENT THINGS WHEN THEY APPROACH THE LORD! ! " vidyArthI labhate vidyAM dhanArthI labhate dhanaM putrArthI labhate putrAn.h mokshhArthI labhate gatiM " One who desires knowledge (vidyA) gets it; one who desires wealth (dhana) gets it; one who desires sons (putra) will have sons; onewho desires liberation (moksha) attains it. but really speaking , do we need to tell the Lord what we need ? He is 'antaryami' - HE knows WHAT WE WANT AND WHAT WE DESERVE . tHE LORD FEEDS AN ELEPHANT AS WELL AS AN ANT EACH ACCORDING TO ONE'S NEED ! We ask the Lord to bless us with material things - A luxury car , a beautiful wife likwe Ashwerya Rai , a palatial house , a big estate etc etc etc and we try to bargain with the Lord! In fact , Amitabh Bacchan and his induatrialist friendS Ambani and Amit Kumar each made a contribution of 51 lakhs donation to the Tirupath Balaji temple treasury ( hundi) just before Amitabh Bachan's son's wedding ! The idea was to seek God's blessings and remove all obstacles . Later on , it came to be known in the press that Amitab was guilty of tax evasion and this was his way of taking a tax shelter by making a philantrophic contribution ! We can fool the public and the press but can we Bribe the Lord in this way ? The lord is pleased with real devotion - patram pushpam phalam toyam yo me bhaktya prayacchati tad aham bhakty-upahritam asnami prayatatmanah (chap 9 verse 26- SRIMAD BHAGVAD GITA ) If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it. From this verse , it is appararent that it is easy to please Lord Krishna - all he wants is pure devotion from a true devotee !Sabari, the Hill woman, gave 'berries' to Lord Rama after tasting it! Sudama , Lord Krishna's childhodd playmate , gave 'poha' ( a poor man's food) to Lord Krishna ! WHO IS TO GIVE WHOM ? THE VERY FIRST VERSE IN ISHAVASYA UPANISHAD GOES THUS Om Isavasyamidam sarvam yatkiñca jagatyam jagat | tena tyaktena bhuñjitha ma grdhah kasyasvid dhanam 1 This entire universe is pervaded by the Lord Hari, for the reason that it is dependent upon primordial nature, which in its turn is also pervaded by Him. He alone is thus independent. For this reason, enjoy whatever is given to you by Him, and do not seek wealth from any other source (since Hari alone is independent, do not worship others such as kings in hopes of wealth). REALLY SPEAKING, He is 'purnam' - He is Bhagwan - It literally means " possessing fortune, fortunate " (from the root " Bhaga " , meaning fortune, glory) , and hence " glorious, divine, venerable, holy " , etc.So , Ishwera itself means Aishweryam! So , we qare all beggars in front of Him - he alone is the Giver - He is the one gives us 'bhoga' and 'yoga' ! So, nothing in this universe belongs to us - It all belongs to Ishwara! sO, TODAY , ON GANESHA CHATURTHI DAY , what are we going to ask LORD GANAPATHI ? Don't ask the King for the water when you can ask for the kingdom itself !don't ask for material riches but for spiritual riches which is eternal bliss - Sat-chit-ananda! but a true devotee does not even ask for liberation or moksha - He simply prays thus - I truly don't want anything; I don't even care what happens as long as my mind is fixed at Your lotus feet. " . This is real Shraddha - devotion mixed with unconditional love ! This is the qualification of a uttama devotee of the calibre of Dhruva, Prahlada , Uddhava , Gopis etc .... Bhaktajano, Lord Ganesha has 'winnowing' ears - He will hear only what he wants to 'hear' and will grant you only what he thinks is 'right' for you ! so pray to him with sincerity and devotion and the kingdom of god will be yours! Let us pray : Nitaantikaanta Dantakaanti Mantakaanta Kaatmajam Achintya Rupa Mantaheena Mantaraaya Krintanam Hrudantarey Nirantaram Vasantameva Yoginam Tameka Danta Meva Tam Vichintayaami Santatam. I constantly reflect upon that single tusked God only, whose lustrous tusk is very beautiful, who is the son of Lord Shiva, (Shiva, the God of destruction), whose form is immortal and unknowable, who tears asunder all obstacles, and who dwells forever in the hearts of the Yogis. ( adi shankara bhagvadapada- Ganesha pancharatnam) Om Shri Ganeshaya namaha! Om Shri Omkara Murthaye Namaha ! Om Gam Ganapathaye Namaha !
