Guest guest
Lord Krishna wanted to test the wisdom of his kings. One day he summoned a king called Duryodana. Duryodana was well known throughout the land for his cruelty and miserliness, and his subjects lived in terror. Lord Krishna said to King Duryodana, " I want you to go and travel the world over and find for me one truly good man. " Duryodana replied, " Yes, Lord, " and obediently began his search. He met and spoke with many people, and after much time had passed he returned to Lord Krishna saying, " Lord, I have done as you have asked and searched the world over for one truly good man. He is not to be found. All of them are selfish and wicked. Nowhere is there to be found this good man you seek! " Lord Krishna sent him away and called another king called Dhammaraja. He was a king well known for his generosity and benevolence and well loved by all his people. Krishna said to him, " King Dhammaraja, I wish for you to travel the world over and bring to me one truly wicked man. " Dhammaraja also obeyed, and on his travels met and spoke with many people. After much time had passed he returned to Krishna saying, " Lord, I have failed you. There are people who are misguided, people who are misled, people who act in blindness but nowhere could I find one truly evil man. They are all good at heart despite their failings! A thought just crossed my mind while reading the answers to Farah's question. How many times it happens that we think we have been mistreated and we blame others for the bad things that happen with us. But the fact is that when time is adverse ie when we have to go through some difficulty the circumstances and people etc are only an instrument of nature whereby we have to suffer. We call them wicked, evil etc but is it right to think in this way? And to what extent? >please sadhaks share your views about this. Because I think no matte how strong a sadhak is he is often susceptible to such a weakness >
Guest guest
This is very true & wise Aradhnaji. Ultimately, all that happens to us is the result of our Karma, & the spiritual lessons we were born to learn. We face again & again situations that force us to confront our weaknesses & to overcome them. Yet we blame nature, God or whoever we think is cause of our misery! I read somewhere that our Higher self chooses which Karma to bring up & destroy, which lessons to learn. So ultimately, the person responsible for our miseries is OURSELF. Guest guest
Dear Aradhana... The fact is we suffer because we are attached... Attached to fame, attached to people, things, money our thoughts, our bodies, our ego finally to all our desires.... This was at the core of Buddha's philosophy... We suffer because of our attachment... The human mind can only blame...it is very difficult for it to accept.. The nature of the mind is such... we try to find another person to blame even for the things that go on within us... Example... We are walking in the street and suddenly We trip over a stone and fall... what is our immediate reaction.... Who is the idiot who left such a big stone in the middle of the pathway... does he not have sense??? But if we look properly we are the idiots who were not 100% into the act of walking.. we were thinking of the arguments with our neighbor....the groceries to be purchased, the car we are going to buy, the girl next door... Similarly.. we see the faults of others easily.. but not our own.... It is the basis of sadhana and the first thing in sadhana.. to accept that our mind is prone to errors....and STOP blaming others....look inside and we will find almost all the answers... if we are BRAVE enough.. we will find ALL the answers... Guest guest
Aradhan dear you are so right !!! I will illustrate one example of what you said. I had some problems locally in office..so i concentrated on YA forgetting the office problems. An Asura came there...an idiot who is just copying and pasting and thinking himself to be great hindu philosopher, made a group and started giving me troubles... i forgot him...and my spiritual daughter started cursing and abusing me.. I left YA and came back to Sadhna...and here too we had lot of problesms between me, shanracer, bala and nitin.. ( which is ok now) So if negative energies are attacking you..you cant escape them by changing places... better to face them I remembered another parable told by a saint. A businessman whose business was ruined, reached king, who was his childhood friend and requested for some help as all money with him vanished. The king, a very learned man, asked his minister to give him a pare of goats...a male and female. His friend was very angry... he thought..see this king is my friend and what he helped me? just a pair of goats.. He took home the goats anyway..but the the goats died withing a week. so he went to the king again...the king again gave him a pair of goats...again angrily he took home the goats and within a fortnight that pair also died this happened many times...and finally the goats' pair survived and they had many kids. The king sent for his friend and asked how it was going. The man told it was good and the goats were multiplying and he was happy. The king then told his minister..give this this man a million gold coins so that he can do business The man was surprised - but why you give me coins now..you should have given me before. The king smiled and said- then your time was bad. Even the goats died due to your bad time. so giving money to you then was useless... now that the goats are surviving..it means your bad times are over and now i can give you money. So .... Kaal is very great... we cant not win him so easily...so why not accept his authority for the time being?? AUM
Guest guest
> Dear Aradhana... > > The fact is we suffer because we are attached... Attached to fame, Dear Saadhakas These posts are very interesting & this is exactly what Im struggling with at this time in my life, so please help me understand this. I really want to get this. Im not talking about lions killing in order to survive. Im not talking about tripping over stones. What do we say to a child who is abused? A woman who is raped & murdered? A child who is shot & killed in our streets? Im struggling with trying to see it as their karma & their choice when they took that birth. Even though part of me does want to believe this, there is another part of me that doesnt... please help me to see what you see & then the rest is up to me... I chatted for a long time with Babji, & he gave me this advice, which solved most of my doubts, I'll just share it with you(what I can remember). At any time, people are suffering in the world. No one suffers needlessly, there is always a reason, a lesson to be learnt. Sometimes, Shakti, the Godess, takes mercy on some person with bad karma, & relieves his suffering, but this is at Her wish only. We cant help everyone in the world. The only person we can help is ourself. If we see injustice in the world, we shouldnt get angry. After all, its not our world! The Force that created this world better than us how to run it. In Hindu theory, its Vishnus job, let him worry about it! What we can do is, if we hear about some injustice, first see- are we in a position to do anything about it? If not, then that means Mother Nature doesnt want us to interfere. If children are being forced into armed conflicts/slavery in Africa, there is not much I can do about it. If I worry/fret about it, I will just waste energy. If some justice happens to someone near us, or where we are in a position to help, & stil we dont help, then we are going against Shakti. If someone is being attacked in Africa, I cant do anything, but if someoneis being attacked in my town, & I still dont do anything, then I get bad Karma, as inaction is as bad as evil action. So ask yourself, am I in a position to help? If you are, Mother Nature will force you to help(in the Gita, Krishna says " How will you not fight? Nature will force you to fight " ). If the Shakti wants to help someone, & you are near, you will be forced by circumstances to help, even if the other person is your enemy. If she wants someone to sufer, no matter how much you try to help, the other person will go down the drain. I will end with a story someone I know. Once, in the hottest summer day, he was lying down, when he felt an urge to smoke. He had a pack of cigarettes just next to him, but he remembered he had left 1 cig on the roof of his house, & felt he should finish that. In burning heat, he climbed 2 floors to get that cigarette(hes normally very lazy). When he reached the top, he found that roses he had planted there were dying as someone had forgotten to water them. This explained his illogical behaviour of going to the roof to smoke when he had a cig right next to him: The roses were calling out to him- help us! We are dying. Now, the System forced this man up 2 floors in burning heat to save a few roses. Dont you think that system cares about human suffering too? How can we, with out petty human mind, ever hope to comprehend or judge the actions of that universal mind? love Shantnu

I loved the story about the roses calling out as they were dying. You're right, it illustrates how there are universal forces that I cant comprehend right now. I need to read up more on this subject... With love Farah
Guest guest
> OH HI SUGUNA. LONG TIME.. HOPE YOU ARE DOING WELL WITH THOSE STRUCTURES ETC lol Thanks Shanracer JI, Bala ji and baba. Very wisely said Shanracer ji.Farah its karma and ignorance that is the cause of pain actually. Baba this reminds of a story. There was a not so spiritual small princess. One day her father ie the king said- " the world is upside down " . " No " she said, " it isnt " . Then the next day he repeated it: " The world is upside down " . She said: " but it looks all right to me " . Again next day her father repeated the same thing. " Everyone else also says that " he said. She said- " No, its people who think that its upside down. " Then she noticed that the king of looking at a picture of his which was upside down. She tried to put it back in the right way. He said- " no you are doing the wrong thing " Finally she got tired of worrying about her dear father and unable to do anything else she hung an upside down picture of herself on the wall and said - " the world is upside down " .She turned mad. how tragic! " :-(
