Guest guest
Aradhnaji, to compare great souls like Mira to ordinary " tyagis " is lke comparing Picasso to the man who paints my toilet... And most of these " renouncers " preach against women, saying they are door to hell. Even in Miras time, most so called proper Swamis refused to see or initiate her because she was a woman. The reason Im against renouncers is it hsa become an excuse for cowards, weak minded people to run away. Osho made great fun of such people. He said everyone is tired if his wife, everyone wants to leave & run to Ashram, where he wont have to do any work, just chelas & Bhaktas will provide free food. But if your read the books by so called " Gurus " , they say this is a very brave thing- eating free food & getting free accomodation is a brave thing! No wonder everyone wants to run away & become a Swami. Osho tells of a story, where a great Mahatma was sitting, giving speech, when someone came to him & said " Sir, your wife has died " . He said, Good, Im freed from this Moha(attachment). Then his son died, he said same thing. People clapped & said what a great Guru! Osho said I spit on such Gurus & Tyagis. If your wife of 40 years dies, who gave you 2 children, & you cant even shed a tear for them, then your Sadhna is useless. What is difference between you & a piece of stone- that also doesnt feel anything! The Gurus say that brave people renounce everything, while weak minded people marry & live in society. So the people who run society are humiliated, while free loading Swamis are venerated. This has been the teaching of everyone from Buddha to Shankaracharya downwards. To correct this mistake, we were ruled by 1000 years by foreigners, who burnt our temples, libraries, raped our country. We had to be taught the lesson that we cant ignore the manifest in serach for the unmanifest. A violent lesson, but have we learnt it? I am a great believer in the Vedic ideal- go back to the Vedas, throw away all medieval Gurus. All Vedic Rishis were married & had children. They all had jobs. They were advisors to kings, fighters, strategists. They had people murdered, planned wars, did complicated rituals for the King, were Kings themself(like Janak, Ajatshatru), still they were Brahm Gyanis. I will end by a quote from a Red Indian sorcerer from Mexico: " Renouncing is also a form of indulgence of the ego; what is there to renounce? The world is just a bunch of energies interacting with each other, which you dont control, so what is there to renounce? " Don Juan to Carlos Castaneda, in the Road to Ixtlan
