Guest guest
Pranam to all Gurudev! There are so many advanced Gurudev here, perhaps you can solve a question of mine: What is best way to get rid of desires? Some say they should be stopped as soon as they arise. Some say we should satisfy them completely, so nothing is left. So for example, we always like eating ice creams. One way would be to stop going to ice cream shop, & do something else. The other is to eat so many ice creams we getsick of them, & so stop eating them. Which way is better? S Kumar
Guest guest
Dearest Kumar... Desires!!! They are the reason we are alive... There is nothing wrong with them. They are perfectly OK.... There is only one small issue with them... They tie you down to this physical plane... But then There are also Astral bonds, etc.... The problem why desires keep repeating is because we never do anything 100%.. We are always half hearted in what ever we do.... For instance, When we drink juice.... our mouth is drinking huice, but our mind is thinking about what movie to watch on tv after we go home.... When we eat icecream.. we are already thinking of tomorrow's office. The trick is simple... When you are eating icecream... Be in it 100%....watch your hand going to your mouth, feel the tast of ice cream.. feel the icecream being swallowed. feel yourself enjoying it... LIVE IT When we start doing things 100%, the experience is complete, we do not need to keep doing it again and again..... Similarly when we live each role in our life with full intensity, it is finished..... You will quickly see that we are redoing the same things throughout our lives....you will see the stupidity of it...once you realise this... you are free... You will be liberated... We have to understand... the only thing keeping us on Earth is US.... Our own desires..... Love Balu.......... P.S... I am no Gurudev....It is not in me to be one.......There are many great souls here though!!

Repression as such does no good since its human that repressed feeling will resurface later. humble obesciences > > So for example, we always like eating ice creams. Guest guest
Dear Kumar, Humble Obeisance. Desires are never satiable or quenchable. Let them come and go, we need not worry at all, try to be an indifferent spectator. You very well know that because of desire, we join such groups, because of desires we pray, earn, do so many activities, want to become somebody and become it. They are not bad at all. We are having shot-gun or bow and arrow, unless we release tbe bullet or arrow, it will not strike anybody or anything. Simply possessing such instruments has not importance, we must know its proper use. Though we possess such instruments, we must know their use to save lives, protect from enemies, decoits, etc. When no need, we keep the aside. In the same manner we must learn to keep aside the desires by neglecting them. Whatever are useful in advancement of Sadhana, use then sent percently. While doing medication when desire to eat ice-cream, delicious food, party, cinema, etc. comes up, let come bud do not welcome her. It will be there for some time and subside. When it starts going back, hold it and ask, did you enjoyed? what did you get out of that?. It will have no answer and run away. In this way many desires trying to deviate mind away from Sadhana or good, constructive work, social service, rise up, silently stare at them, watch them indiferently without welcome, without justification and without their suppression, they will wait for some time and run away leaving you alone to enjoy the activity cent percently. We are all fellow travellers of this path. This is the case of everybody including myself. So need not worry. Move ahead with Sadhana sharing Sadhana discussing Sadhana reading Sadhana and chanting Sadhana. Heartful regards. = Keshav. s_kumar_12345 <no_reply > wrote: Pranam to all Gurudev! Desires can be ended either by fulfilling them to the limits or by avoiding them But both ways have their pitfalls.... if we go on fulfilling the desires, they will create many other desires and we would be stuck in a mess of desires. on the other hands if we wish to supress the desires, it may lead to many complexes and in most of the cases, the desire hides inside the dark corner of our sub-consciousness...ready to re-attack with double forces.... a great deal of will power is required to supress the desires. What i personally feel is that to overcome the problem of desires, we have to understand the desires first. One great soul wrote " Desire is nothing but losing faith in the Universal System of God. god has set up a matrix of energies and karma for us and our dissatisfication and revolt towards that system, creates our desires " So any desires which arises, and which satiate our personal ego should be avoided...and other desires which surface up for welfare of others or for any spiritual progress of anyone, should be accepted and worked upon...would be a good way for a sadhka. When we have made a little progress, then we would learn to transcend the desires, detach them from ego...and see our desires as the desires of Mother Nature, for which she is using us as tools. Guest guest
I liked Oshos thoughts on this- although he was attacked brutally for them. He said- dont worry about your desires. If you can't stop them, continue with them. If you continue to meditate, you should automatically lose interest in the outside world & its charms. This process happens automatically. So by meditating, you will lose interest in money. But living as a beggar or an forced external show of humbleness wont make you a Sadhu. Its the same with sex-you should automatically lose interest in it. All the religons got it the wrong way around- they say that great saints had no interest in money, power, sex, so they assumed that by suppressing these things they will also become great saints. But no interest in the outside world is just a by product, a side effect, of meditation. So dont suppress your desires- if your meditation is strong, they should fall away automatically- like torn clothes off a body. You should make no effort to supress your bad habits or to indulge in them- rather use all your energy to meditate. This positive technique is more powerful. It is so simple- thats why people fail to understand it. And remember- supression is the same as obsession. People who starve themselves in name of God are same as those who are always eating. They are 2 sides of the same coin- we have to go beyond- to a 3rd state- that of a witness, Sakshi Bhaav. Only then can we have any actual control over our desires. Guest guest
That was a fantastic ShantanuJi. Osho's teachings you quoted also explains WHAT MORALS AND ETHICS to be followed by a Sadhak and also BHAKTHI. No need to fight on YOUR God or MY God or Your way or My way. Its so simple as you said where no fixed set of rules to get rid of desire or to do Saadhna., but it should not be misunderstood as most did.Its always question of " Luv and Sadhna " and not anything else. Thanks ShantanuJi. Shivaya Namah Aum. Senthil.
