Guest guest
Here are some more, perhaps we should build our own databse: 1. Shakti- Goddess, or Energy or Power 2. Gyan(misspelt as jnana)- wisdom 3. Prakriti- Nature 4. Purusha- the Soul, that exists beyond nature 5. Gyan- wisdom or knowledge 6. Brahm Gyan- Knowledge of the highest, quality less God. 7. Sacchinanand- short form of Sat-Chit-Anand- Truth-Conciuosness & Will-Bliss- The 3 attributes of the highest God(Sagun or one with qualities). 8. Deva- Being of Light- loosely equal to angels. Kind beings of the astral world. 9. Rakshas or Asuras- Hostile beings of the astral world. 10. Vigyan(misspelt as Vijnana)- Special wisdom- higher than ordinary Gyan. Ordinay Gyan gives us wisdom & knowledge, but Vigyan gives us power to act with that knowledge. 11. Shiv-Shakti- The Male/Female priciple- Pure Conciousness & Power of that Pure conciousness. Note that Shiv isnt normal " male " qualities, or the soul(or what most people think to be the soul), as acc. to Tantra all these are also created by Shakti, the Goddess. I endeaver to provide their translation below: saguna = " possessing attributes or qualities " ; in reference to the Supreme Lord, the term signifies that He has spiritual, transcendental qualities. nirguna = without attributes or qualities; in reference to the Supreme Lord, the term signifies that He is beyond material qualities. rupa = form (as in naama rupa = name and form) jeeva = the eternal indivisual soul. mahavidyas = could be referring to four Vedas and there are four Mahavakyas taken one from each Veda such as Tatavamasi (Tat Tvam Asi), Aham Brahmasmi etc. radhakutir OM ****************************************************************** Greetings from Sri Radha Kutir, Please visit our website on Vedanta: http://www.geocities.com/radhakutir http://www.geocities.com/vedantacourse and also http://www.geocities.com/vedicfoundation ****************************************************************** " In the whole world there is no religion or philosophy so sublime and elevating as Vedanta.
