I am as much a student as you all are... so any question put here is open for all to share their views. But let me thank you for putting such a beautiful answer as " Gyan means the yoga of understanding..not the yoga of knowledge. " In todays time most of the people take Gyan yoga as reading books and knowing about God and satisfying themselves that they know. This is certainly not Gyan Yoga. Information can not be wisdom. Gyan Yoga is as important as Bhakti, karma or tantra. Gyan yoga is taken by them whose mind and intelligence is main faculty to work with. Like those who are emotional and work through heart opt for Bhakti and will not succeed in Gyan yoga similarly those with a logical mind, would not get success in Bhakti (it is for the beginning only). Our scriputres tell a lot about Gyan Yoga. Neti-Neti, the famous Vakya of Shruti tells abt Gyan yoga that we have to reject step by step those things which are not consciousness. Gyan Yoga has its own sadhna, though difficult. A gayn Yogi tries to see the reality behind the veil of Universe and identifies himself with the supreme consciousness. But Gyan Yoga has its own pitfalls. As Shri Krishna warned in gita that those who worship the attributeless, nameless and formless god get enlightenment with great difficulties. I personally feel that we must not proceed with only Gyan or only Bhakti as both have their pitfalls as inflation of ego and fanaticism. Gyan Yoga if done with a little bit of Bhakti, gives better resulsts... because in the end both meet at a place. A Gyani if does not develop love for the Supreme is incomplete a bhakat if does not develop gyan, is incomplete. See the Bhaktas like Hanuman, Mira bai, Kabir... they were more Gyanis than many so called Gyanis. Bhakti yoga in its peak brings Gyan yoga into bhakti and Gyan yoga in its end brings Love for god. These two can not be separated. Pure and dry intellectualism is not Gyan Yoga. gyan yoga is understanding the Tattwas of Sankhya and realise the 3 gunas of Nature and see the difference between the consciousness and Nature. The height of both Gyan and Bhakti is found in Tantra Yoga or Siddha Yoga....where world is not taken as Maya or illusion. Where mind is not taken as a hinderance, but a tool of Soul. Where whole creation is taken as a Dance of Ardhanarishwara. That worship of Ardhanarishawar...the duo of shiva and shakti manifesting as universe can take us to the real Gyan and to real Bhakti. But each of us have to follow our own path, depending upon our past karma, our desires, and God's grace finally !!@! Hari Aum
Guest guest
Dear baba , what you feel and have said seems very accurate since the scriptures also confirm the same. Shirdi Sain Baba(incarnation of God) says: " no mattter how much you learn from Vedas, Shastras etc unless the seeds of God's pure love (bhakti) sprout in your heart you can not reach God " The bhakta develops gyaana or intutive wisdom as bhaki purifies him whereas the gyaana yogis learn to love God as they progress in knowledge. Bhakti leads to gyaana automatically. Now lord Shiva is the greatest of yogis as well as the greatest of devotees. Although he is gyaana personified he weeps and laughs in the transcedental love of God.One who says that Shiva must be bereft of knowledge because he cries and laughs unlike a gyaani(ie isnt away from joy and grief) must be a fool.So its incorrect to say that bhakti or devotion is a lower form of sadhna. A saint said: " gyaana and devotion are the two fingers that the child or jeeva who has visited the fair of this world must hold lest he might get lost. If on the way he looses touch with gyaana bhakti will come to his rescue and if he looses touch with bhakti gyaana will be there for his rescue " Even some of the gopis were nitya sidhdhas and some were the rishis whom Krishna had met earlier as Lord Rama in treta. Even a gyaani like Uddhav was extremely distressed despite all his gyaana when Lord Krishna left prithvi. While he was in Vrindavan he would think: " may I become the blades of grass and be able to touch the feet of gopis without their coming to know of this " Lord Krishna says- " a wise man never thinks gyaana and yoga to be different only a foolish one thinks so.Situating in one gives the results of both " In any kind of yoga I think that the inspiration for progress is love for god be it in Saguna or Nirguna rupa. The love of nirguna brahmn is gyaana and love of saguna is bhakti. One I feel needs to love both. regards
Guest guest
Gurudev Humble Obeisances. The illustrations are absolute. Along with Gyan and Bhakti, if Karma is added then devotion in real sense will be complete, as I feel. Know the Supreme by all means, understand Him as far as one can. Worship with full devotion, shraddha and faith. What ever understood, share with fellow ones and put His advise / intentions in to real life practicaly. Real practical may be Kirtana, Purports, Selfless service of society, honesty and full fledged efforts in every work to earn livelihood/bread and butter. Sharing whatever earned with all fellow ones and needy ones. If devotee goes by this way, I feel, he will very well advance in Bhakti. Kindly put more light on this and oblige. Heartful regards. The love of nirguna > brahmn is gyaana and love of saguna is bhakti. One I feel needs to > love both. Aradhana this is exactly what i wished to say. thanks Now a days a new breed of so-called gyanis have come who after reading a few books, think they have become gyanis. since such people are highly educated and are well placed... they take bhaktas as stupids. In our group we had many such dry intellectuals who just loved to argue and put forth their point. Another came and declared himself to be enlightened through gyan. Pinched a little and our enlightened soul started abusing all here.. LOL (these incidents happened long ago if you check old posts of 2001 or so you will find interesting arguments..by such dry intellectuals) It is better to be an atheist than a hypocritic. So we have to see both. Rather I would say Bhakti is supreme in Kaliyuga. with good wishes

Guest guest
Rev. Gurudev, Humble Obeisances. Really speaking, I am just a beginner in this path and much inspired by your posts. You are Real Leader for us. As instructed, I am not vell versed with Shakti Sadhana hence, pardon me, unable to write about 10 Mahavidyas. In future I will study thoroughly and let all our group know about it. Regarding Shakti, I hare read Shri. Durga Saptashati three or four times and Shakti has helped me much after that.I am more attracted to Devi Suktam(Tantrokta) Ratri Suktam (Tantrokta) and Shri Durga Kavacham which I recite at least once in a week and Ratri Suktam daily. My office work & timings do not permit me to devote more time. Shakti is chetana/power of our life. To keep it powerful we have to do daily Sadhana, fixed time & place, asanam & direction. It is because of Shakti we do every activity of our life, even right thinking, right perceptions, right decisions and all. What we call Buddhi or intellect, it is Shakti only. Power of reasoning, logic, actions, decisions, giving-taking, love-hatred, smiling-weeping, learning-teaching, speaking-listening, wishing and accepting of greetings and all.Every sadhaka should fix it in mind that unless he has a sight to see every opposite gender as 'Mother', no advancement is possible. We must drink and digest the nector of " Ya Devi Sarva Bhuteshu Matru Repen Sansthita, Namastasyai, namastasyai, namastasyai, namo namah " which means my three times humble salutations to the Godess, who is residing in every creature in the form of The Mother. Here mother means motherly caring and loving feelings and activities as well as sense of 'my-ness' with every one. 'My son, my daughter, my brother, my sister, my teacher. Every where 'my' with loving & caring intention. Unless we develop this feeling, we can not love ourselves or others. Others are not others but our devine brothers/sisters those are sent by The Mother to take my care and love me, I am given a chance to love and care them. They are all mine and I am theirs. When we stand before The Mother in temple, every body standing like us call her 'mother'. This feeling, when combined together, everybody of us are related to each other by a devine relation 'brothers & sisters' irrespective of cast, colour, creed, nationality, place, position, status, gender, age. All are on equal platform. When we develop this feeling purposefully in devine spirit, we are eligible to get Her grace and we are eligible to see the whole world as Her creation, the universal feeling of myness. When we think over this again and again, we try to put it into actual practice and our vision to see others is amazingly changed. Our way of thinking, way of worship and way of living is thoroughly changed beyond our conception. This will open the gates of " Universal Brotherhood " which is the earnest and genuine desire of our Vedas. Gurudev, by the grace of The Mother, I personally take care in my life, at home and in office also. As stated earlier, I am just a beginner and trying to earn more and more from learned ones like you. Please guide me. Heartful regards. = Keshav. beirut_ka_baba <no_reply > wrote: , keshav daund <keshav_daund wrote: Keshav ji, gurudev i am sure you are addressing to the Supreme inside us. sharing is my vrata, my vow before Shakti that whatever she teaches me, i will share with eligible people and you have deep understanding of Shakti... please elaborate something on shakti or 10 mahavidyas Aum Once upon a time there was 1 GB storage in your inbox.
