Whether it's the sleepers or the daydream believers (I'm having daydreams... about night things...in the middle of the afternoon) something HAS to be done folks. Raise the minimum wage up there. Provide free health care. Lower the price of ghee. Make things more attractive and maybe people will stop sleeping and slacking on the job! As it is, things are obviously not attractive enough. Look at the billions and billions who are slacking on the job, sleeping in bushes or spacing out in their daydream world while pretending to do some service. Someone should be running through every town and village, from one bush and tree to the next shouting JIV JAGO! JIV JAGO! Protesters should be marching on town hall with posters and placards that read Stamp out Maya! Preventive measures should be taken. They need to be proactive up there, not reactive. Hold free seminars and show videos of this material world and demonstrate just how hellish these daydreams can be. Offer free food and refreshments at these seminars. Make it attractive so that folks will come and hear the message. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", as they say. Set up preaching centers all over the country side, especially in places where there are bushes and trees, and possibly caves. Pass out flyers. Get the message out! Everyone should try to understand that Krsna is all-attractive. Even if they don't believe it, they should at least theoretically accept this most basic premise. If they have trouble accepting the message, fib a little and tell them there's an even higher reality, a special place they can go to where there is no maya, no falldowns, no sleepers, no slackers, no daydream believers, where Krsna actually is more attractive than maya. Preaching is well underway down here in the material realm. Now, perhaps it is time to preach to our "higher selves" in Goloka Vrndavana. After all, we are advised in the Bhagavad Gita to control the lower self with the higher self. Well, the higher self is living in Vrindavana and prefers to dream about maya rather than Krsna. This is unacceptable. We need qualified preachers up there, ASAP! Now is the time. Wake up the sleepers and the slackers and engage them in devotional service. Git er dun. Encourage them to give donations for worthwhile causes and remind them that it's for their eternal benefit. And with the donations, set up halfway houses, rehab centers, preaching centers, prasad distribution sites, backwoods revivals, (give me that ol' time religion), seminars replete with qualified speakers and state of the art sound and video presentations with FREE refreshments for all! And comfortable seating arrangements. Entice them to come by advertising new and improved prasadam, all you can eat, for free! It's gotta be free, otherwise people won't come. Open up free dancing studios. Teach them how to chant, dance, and feast. This process is sublime. They just don't know it yet.

There are similar theories out there. Bhagavad-gītā 16.8 says:

 

asatyam apratiṣṭhaḿ te

jagad āhur anīśvaram

aparaspara-sambhūtaḿ

kim anyat kāma-haitukam

 

They say that this world is unreal, with no foundation, no God in control. They say it is produced of sex desire and has no cause other than lust.

The demonic conclude that the world is phantasmagoria. There is no cause and effect, no controller, no purpose: everything is unreal.

The sleeper theory is similar in the sense of claiming that the world we see around us and our life in it is merely a phantasmagoria, a dream created by a sleeping jiva. To me, that view has not only a Mayavada flavor, but an asuric one as well.

the sleeper theory is also part and parcel of the sahajiya mentality because in the sleeper theory you are already an associate of the Lord, you just had a lapse of memory.

 

so, in the sleeper siddhanta the conclusion is that we are not really in maya, we are just having our pastimes of pretending we are in maya.

It is also confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā in many places that the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, takes a special interest in His devotees and declares emphatically that nothing can cause His devotees to fall down. He is always protecting them.
