Dear Piyush:

Yours is a very good question. Meditations have been done for a very

long

time. Today, all kinds of meditations are becoming even popular in the

West.

In fact over millions of people have begun the process of learning

meditation.

Many people in the West also have been learning meditation for a host of

very specific and important reasons. Many have learned meditation to

get rid of stress. Other people have been attracted to meditation to

get

along better with their spouses.

Other's have even heard that meditation develops creativity,

productivity

and a host of other benefits.

So, it may be that using specific mantras may be possible to help

alleviate

specific problems.

But, do you have a meditation teacher? It's very important that you get

a

teacher which can help you with your questions and path.

Today, the most famous meditation in the World is the relatively new

technique of Transcendental Meditation. It's especially interesting to

me,

because this Vedic meditation has been research more now, then any

technique of self-improvement in the history of the World. There have

been

over 600 scientific studies done in the last 35 years.

You can check them out at tm.org.

This is especially important because it answers your question very

profoundly. The TM technique has been found to heal a number of

diseases,

as well as all the other benefits that I listed above.

However, in the field of Jyotish, the aspect of Remedies and Remedial

Measures has fallen on quite hard times lately. There are many kinds of

remedies that are becoming popular again, but their effectiveness may

not

be so profound.

For example, sometimes you'll hear someone say: "To strengthen Saturn,

one must give to the poor on Saturday." And, I get the symbolism of

doing

something humbling for making Saturn less negative in one's life.

However, there are many other much more profound remedies that can be

done. For example, Saturn can be strengthened by 1st of all 1) Studying

Saturn. Especially, if you study the positive side to Saturn, you'll

come to

appreciate Saturn more.

And because Saturn is the primary planet of disease in Jyotish, this may

be

very important. Secondly, one needs to do anything that will create

more

Saturn balance in your life.

For example, if you go to an Ayurvedic doctor and he takes your pulse

and

tells you you're out of balance, you may say: "Hey! that's just what my

Jyotishee said!"

And where the Jyotishee may say, "I'm sorry, you're apt to have health

complaints for the entirety of your Saturn Antardasa period, the

Ayurvedic

doctor will give you a number of powerful Ayurvedic remedies to bring

your

Physiology back into balance.

If only we looked at Jyotish this way. This is why I love this Jyotish

Remedies group so much. Emphasizing remedial measures is crucial in

Jyotish.

Unfortunately, this aspect of Jyotish has become very misunderstood and

infrequently and profoundly not been practiced.

So, how did you learn these mantras? Get back together with your

teacher

if you have one.

There may be a number of reasons why they're not being effective.

I became a TM teacher many, many years ago and spent a long time

teaching people how to meditate.

Sometimes when people would ask questions about their practice, I could

figure out that they were not meditating consistently each day. Other

times

they might be practicing the technique incorrectly.

Also, meditation in the most recent past has become understood even in

India. For example, many techniques are prescribed as needing effort,

and concentration.

This however, is very difficult and disallows the mind to transcend

which is the true purpose of all meditations.

Finally, I'd like to say that one should also study one's chart; becaue

there are many insights and lessons to be learned contained within one's

specific Jyotish chart that'll really explain 'why' we're out of balance

or sick.

For example, Saturn in the 12th House will have a different meaning

then

Sani in the 1st house. Also, the Signs that Saturn is in will represent

a very different lesson.

So, Saturn in Gemini means "lessons" due to doing too many things at

once. Where Saturn in Cancer often times means "lessons" due to giving

too much

to others and not enough to oneself.

Saturn in Leo means lessons of leo selfishness often times.

Saturn in Virgo represents lessons of perfectionism.

For each sign and house there's a unique lesson that we're meant to

discover

and heal, in our own charts.

Remember the malefics in our charts are meant to be transformed out of

being malefic!

That's the whole purpose of Jyotish remedies.

Your final question: "Is there any other method of doing this?"

One other thing I can say is there are two ways of dealing with the

healing

of any problem or negative consequence in life.

If we have a boil, we can lance the boil. We go to the doctor and he

sees the problem and he prescribes something to heal the problem on the

level of

the problem.

But a good doctor also knows that, the problem needs to be healed at

it's source too. Boils often times come due to a lack of good nutrition

etc. so in addition to solving the problem on the surface a deeper

solution needs to come.

This can be called a more holistic solution. Transcending Meditation,

then, is that more holistic meditation that goes to the real source of

all problems; which is a lack of inner spirtitual and consciousness

development.

Because meditation unfolds the nature and latent potential from within

then

problems like imbalances and diseases fall away.

Why?

Because the real solution is to find inner health. Once we become more

healthy the darkness of dis-ease is just gone!

Hope this helps.
