Guest guest
Hello, I have d to this list about a month ago, and am amazed at the wealth of information and wealth of experts on this list. I became interested in Ayurveda and alternative forms of medicine recently. I am in my fifties and was diagnosed as a borderline diabetes Type 2 about three years ago. The doctor prescribed a drug called Actos and a nutrition schedule (which was frankly, quite good). After a couple of months, I was able to return to normal sugar levels, but reluctant to continue with Actos. I continued with my clean living (lots of vegetables, no animal fats, lots of excercise, pranayama) and have beaten diabetes. Just last week I came across this piece on Actos: http://www.newstarget.com/020865.html My intention in writing this message is as follows. I feel that I can do a bit of good by compiling a directory of Ayurvedic specialists (with your specialities, contact address and so on) and put it up in the Files section of this group. So if your are a practitioner, you can send me your details that would include: Name, speciality (Example: Ayurveda Counselor, Panchkarma Specialist, and so on), full address, e-mail address, contact telephone number, website address (if any). Please note that I have no financial interest, and I am not a spammer. My intention is to be of some help to people who seek assistance from Ayurvedic specialists, and I would like to do my bit to help (I am an engineer by profession, slowly getting interested in Ayurveda). All I'll do is put up the information I receive in an Excel file/text file and place it in the files section of . I could start with people in India and then expand it to a larger scale (USA and other countries). But there is plenty room in the same file, where practitioners can include their data, those practitioners who have not yet included your data in this file, please do so, it may help members located close to yur location.]

I am glad you have already taken the trouble to create this list. I am also looking for an ayurvedic practioner in the Charlotte/Raleigh area of North Carolina to suggest to my niece. She stays in a rather sparsely-populated area of NC, and her son of about 4 years seems to have a very weak immune system - the moment he goes to school he picks up some illness such as fever, cold and flu. So she has taken him off the school and she seems to be giving him antibiotics all the time; I'm sure Ayurveda has better alternatives. -- Gururaj Rao <honyakusha >
Guest guest
Dear Mandakini, Thanks for your kind advice. I will pass on your recommendation of Chyavanaprash to her. In the meanwhile, I have asked for more details about her son, will likely write again to his forum of knowledgeable persons.
