about mercury oxide? ancient preparations?

I am looking for anybody with knowledge of these ancient mercurial

preparations that have been used in Ayurveda however have been discontinued

due to their unpopularity as they are metals and the fear of ingesting

metals. however it is true that metals are already present in the body and

that this fear is substantially irrational. furthermore, the preparation of

this ancient alchemy is so complicated that few still have kept this

knowledge alive. I am hoping however that there are people out there aware

of this and can be of some use to the group here. these preparations are

known to do miraculous things for all people suffering from all kinds of

diseases. I think there is a cure for everything. that is how great our

cultural heritage is.

Dear Raja,

there is nothing miraculous about the ancient mercurial preparations. most of the basic preparations containing mercury and sulphur are mentioned inthe books of subject known as RASA-SHASTRA.

these formulations are regularly taught in regular ayurvedic courses in India known as BAMS, which are taught in govt. and university recognised colleges and all ayurvedic students have adequate knowledge about

the mercurial preparations. hence nothing secret about it either.

the mercurial preparations have a strict code of processings which are known as SHODHAN, MARAN, AMRUTIKARAN to name a few among them. a preparation made by properly processing all the steps mentioned in the rasashastra books without resorting to any short-cuts will never cause ill-effects provided they are given in correct dosage, used only on proper indication / stage of disease by a vaidya / ayurvedic doctor who has a proper knowledge of using such prerarations.

i, myself a active ayurvedic consultant have been using various mercurial preparations for last 17 years and have not yet faced any embarrasing situation arising due harmful side-effects. the unpopularity could be due to unjudicious use or improper manufacture. Rasa-shastra texts clearly specify the harmful effects of unpurified and unprocessed / improperly processed mercurial or any other metal or mineral preparation.
