Guest guest
i would like to relate a very recent case history for an exceptionally common problem: infantile eczema about a 6 weeks months ago a mother came to me with her year old daughter, suffering from an extensive eczema that covered 60% of her body since she was 2 months old - inflamed, red, bleeding, scabbing and apparently very itchy - in ten years i have not seen such a severe case although the parents apparently ate "healthy" and the child was breastfed, the parents were at a loss of what to do - many things had been tried, from several different angles, including medical treatment after carefully reviewing the diet i made the recommendation that mother and child avoid all dairy, sugar and grains/legumes of any kind, and emphasize lots of vegetables, organic/wild meats, high quality fats and local fruits i also had the mother take small amount of a blood-cleansing formula (raktaprasadana), triphala, a fiber supplement, a high quality cod liver oil, and herbal teas including nettle tea and a "seed" tea made of coriander, fennel and dill, to help with the baby's frequent colic - no direct treatment was given to the baby as i predicted the rash got much worse immediately after withdrawing these foods, but after 2-3 weeks the condition began to improve markedly, and now after 6 weeks the mother reported to me yesterday that 70% of the lesions have disappeared, and those that remain are healing and no longer itchy note that no complicated or invasive therapies were implemented - just common sense and patience while some might not see this as ayurvedic, it is soundly based on dietetic principles found in ayurveda and in the concept of satmya (ancestry) and desha (climate) best... Guest guest
Dear Todd In your post we see reflections of drugless philosophy presently being advanced by Baba Ramdev and other swamis. Author is happy to note that you are trying to stick to "let thy food be your medicine" Here is a case where medicine also serves as food. God is so kind. Where there is difficult to cure disease, medicine is close by. A paragraph from message 483. "A terrible case of eczema covered a girls skin on her arms and legs. Following my advice, she started to rub her own urine onto her arms and legs. The pain and itching disappeared immediately, and after a few days, her arms were only red. She plucked up the courage to drink urine, and gained so much faith in her healing that she even started drinking extra water so that she would produce mere urine. After two weeks, the eczema had completely disappeared. An it has not come back since" But of course it would not be proper to drench the baby in her own urine to punish her as a result of mothers faulty diet. Rather mother should be asked to follow the urine therapy till baby's eczema is clear. Instead of passing antigens in the milk, she may pass products which enhances baby's immune system. The purpose of this post is to carry forward the more or less drugless therapy adopted by Todd in this case, to its naturopathy extreme! ayurveda, Todd Caldecott <todd wrote: > > i would like to relate a very recent case history for an > exceptionally common problem: infantile eczema > > about a 6 weeks months ago a mother came to me with her year old > daughter, suffering from an extensive eczema that covered 60% of her > body since she was 2 months old - inflamed, red, bleeding, scabbing > and apparently very itchy - in ten years i have not seen such a > severe case
Guest guest
Dear Dr Bate Speaking of food being the medicine I was at one time nursing in an allergy unit and one patient who was also admitted for severe facial eczema had a bad reaction to something she had been tested for the day before so checking the food we had found she could tolerate I rubbed a mixture of avocado and porridge oats on her face and within the hour the rash had gone. (The doctor was furious) Jane
