Guest guest
Namah Shivaya, It's so good to read Premarupa's post from Amritapuri. On Friday nite, I was at the MA Ctr's MahaShivaratri celebration. Amma appeared on a live web-feed, which superceded other scheduled events. At times Amma was giving darshan so quickly, maybe 6 seconds each. It looked like quite a physical workout. Then She would give one person or another, an extremely long darshan. A devote at the MA Ctr spontaneously began singing He Amba, & soon the hall was filled with singing to Amma on the big screen. She looked at the camera, with the happiest look I noticed from Her all night. Then someone said we should stop singing, & that She couldn't hear us. (lol) Of course the Divine Mother could hear Her children singing our hearts out to Her! Silly lila. 2-3 times I dozed off while sitting, (at least heard that an upright spine all night on MahaShivaratri benefits spiritutality), then read what Amma said about staying awake through the night. This inspired me to want to take more of our Guru's teachings to heart. For instance, it's written that Amma suggests fasting & a day of silence once a week. But, I've avoided fasting for years, due to my food attachment. Before we know it, our little bodies will fall away, & then what will be left? If the reason for our human births is to merge with the Divine, what use will our lives if we don't at least make great progress towards it? I'm very appreciative for Amma words of wisdom on MahaShivaratri this year. My desire is for it to be a turning point to take the spiritual practices our Guru advises, far more seriously. Sweta "..But reading Amma's satsang made me feel a little better. By Her grace, She did keep this child awake: "To prevent the snake-bite victim from falling asleep, his friends and family will sing and dance and pour water over his head," Amma said. "They will also make him drink bitter medicines. Onlookers may feel sorry for the patient. They might even say, 'Poor guy! Just let him close his eyes for a while! Why are you troubling him like this?' But the doctor knows that if he is allowed to fall asleep that he may die." Amma said that the Guru is like this doctor. He will do anything and everything to keep us awake. We may not like it. He will make you drink bitter medicines in the form of experiences. But all this is done with the our higher good in mind—to awake us and keep us awake. Amma said that this is why people consider the guru their enemy. "Unfortunately, many prefer to remain in darkness," Amma said. "If God were to come before them and offer them liberation now itself, they would say, 'Now, we want to watch TV. Will you please come later?' Om Amriteshvaryai Namah It's here! Your new message! Get new email alerts with the free Toolbar.
